Default SMS issue

I picked up my Evo from the RS I pre-ordered from about 6PM last night and the porting process took something under an hour. So, I poked around for a while getting a feel for the phone and the tried to send an SMS message but it failed with a weird error message. The error message is as follows:

SMS Error
---------------------------------------
Radio Interface Resource Shortage

I then clicked on 'Details' and the next box indicated:

SMS Error
--------------------------------------
Cause Code: 64
Error Class: 2

This problem occured last night within a couple hours of receiving the phone but I'm still getting the problem today, more than 12 hours later.

Hey man, I had the same issue, and couldn't figure it out. Then I tried to make a call to somebody and it went through some separate activation over the phone, it was weird. but after i did that it has worked fine. If you are still having problems and have not made a call to anyone, try making a call and it will dial some sprint thing that does another activation. I was really frustrated at first because that error message you are getting popped up like every 5 seconds.

Hey thanks, that appears to have fixed the problem. I had not called anyone and when I did just now I was connected to some Sprint guy that was WAY too excitable. Anyway, now that the phone is completely activated it looks like the SMS issue is resolved.

Again, thanks for the tip...

Haha yeah exactly, I never call anybody, I just text! Luckily I had someone to call and it fixed the problem. You must have been frustrated since you got the phone...I can't even imagine.

Well I'm not a big texter but I should have know to make a call. Actually I did call my office yesterday but was not expecting anyone to answer -- just testing the phone -- so when I heard a voice I just hung up before waiting to know who it was.

I have had several programs stop working and got an error message that I could't wright down at the time.

I was using SMS text messages.
Clock count down timer.
Browser.

I will take note next time b/c they were happing all around the same time it was like a computer crashing or something. But when i opened the application again no problems.

Anyone having many issues like this?

Sounds like you may have to do a hard reset and start over again, but you will lose all of your settings.
