Camera not working
I was using my camera this afternoon and then I got home and now it won't work. When I click on Camer it just flashes a picture of the camera (icon) and then crashes back to the home screen. I've tried restarting the evo, removing the battery, but nothing works. Any ideas?

Re: Camera not working
Is your SD card mounted? I know weird stuff can happen with the camera if that is not working correctly.

Re: Camera not working
I just started having this problem tonight as well. Happens no matter which app I try to launch that uses the camera. They just say they're unable to connect to the camera. I suspect it may have been caused by some app I installed, or not. I installed a bunch, so not really sure which might be the culprit, if any of them are.
Judging by the number of times this thread has been read, I'd say others may be having the issue but just aren't posting about it?
** Edit - Never mind. Problem resolved. One of the apps I had installed was Fring. I used ATK to kill it and the camera started working fine, but as a camera and with other apps. I started Fring again (without uninstalling/reinstalling) and it's also working fine now. Odd.
Don't ya just love gadgets? :P

Re: Camera not working
I had the same problem with my camera. I haven't tried stopping Fring yet, but restart usually does the trick. It is a little bit annoying though... Along with the same issue, I also notice that my custom ringtone would disappear from the selection list after reboot (I use the RingTone app), but it still works... sometimes.
I can't figure out if these problems are hardware issue or software... quite frustrating. Anyone else has the same problem and has a solution?

Re: Camera not working
I have had this problem as well. My quick fix for this is to use my advanced app killer and my camera works again. I don't know which app(s) cause this but this is a quick fix.

Re: Camera not working
My camera is crashing also when launching from the camera icon, but if I launch Qik or Fring first, then after that launching from the camera icon works.

Re: Camera not working
I was having the same problem about 15 mins ago...
The camera and video camera worked fine this morning and afternoon, but when I got home this evening, both the camera and video camera wasn't working. When I try to run either one, it flashes a picture of the camera icon, and then crashes back to the home screen. Frantically freaking out, I did what you did for 10 mins, I restarted the Evo, and removed the battery several times. That didn't seem to work, so I went back to the forums and read string97bean's post about the SD card being mounted or not. SO I shut off the Evo, removed the battery, removed the SD card and put everything back into place. Once the Evo was turned back on, I ran both cameras, and it started working again (thank god!). Hopefully adjusting the SD card did the trick. I didn't use ATK to kill any apps (I don't have one installed), and I didn't uninstall/or relaunch Fring, I just did the basics.

Just tried the same thing, and got the camera to work. But when the camera app started, there were no photos. Going to Gallery found some photos (except the last one I tried to take when I stated losing the Camera app moments later). But then when I tried to take a picture, the Camera app failed again.
Nope - still not working after multiple battery/SD card tricks. None of my visual/camera apps are working, although I can view prior photos on Gallery and video on Video apps. Dead in the water as far as Camera or Camcorder, as well as Layar, Google Goggles, etc.
Other ideas?

Re: Camera not working
I have had this happen several times. I believe the cause of this camera problem is do to some apps which some how render the camera/video unusable. I used ATM to delete almost all apps and my camera started to work again. I'm not sure which app(s) it is but I'm convinced this is the case.
