Default Need help after Gingerbread update

Ok, so I have searched these forums and several other forums to help solve my problem and haven't found anything

History - Phone was rooted and I was running CM7. I unrooted the phone and apparently forgot to flash a stock recovery image. I show S-ON as my status. I accepted the OTA update for Gingerbread thinking I had flashed the stock recovery and the phone was stuck in a bootloader loop because I never flashed the stock recovery image and it wasn't playing nice with Clockwork (according to sprint). Sprint was able to load the gingerbread update for me. I looked at the phone and still have superuser access and can utilize "root only" programs, however it reads S-ON. Clockwork is also still installed.

Present - there is an OTA update available and when I try to do this, the phone will not do the update, I am assuming because clockwork is still on there. Is there anyway to remove this without root or do I have to wait until someone cracks the gingerbread and then reroot my phone? Being that I am S-ON but still have superuser access, is there something else I can do?

Lesson learned : Triple check the steps you follow to make sure you didn't miss one

Edit - Is there additional information that would be helpful to provide?

Edit: Anyone have any insight, comments or thoughts?

(Mod note: please refrain from bumping posts or posting back to back messages. Thanks.)

Ok, so I am still stuck and have done a lot of searching on this site as well as XDA.

I have the old bootloader and gingerbread on the phone. I have been told to use Unrevoked to reroot the phone, but when I do I get a message asking me if my firmware is too new. Any suggestions on what to do?

Here is some information on my phone.

Android version
2.3.3
Baseband version
2.15.00.11.19

H-BOOT 2-10.0001

My initial reaction is to tell you to try Revolutionary since you're on GB. But, you probably have already tried that.

You say you've tried XDA. Have you tried Vaelek's site & posting in the General Android area?

Ropodope, twagn, Carhauler, anyone... help this guy!

As far as I'm aware, Unrevoked doesn't work on Gingerbread.

Problem Resolved. Ran a RUU and it updated everything (including hboot) to the most current versions of everything

Fairwinds - Good suggestion on checking with that other group. They really helped me out and kept me going to get it fixed.
