Follow this guy in twitter. he has found a way to work around the 1.50 hboot... if he gets it, we will all get s-off and start going nuts with the amount of roms out there...

That's good to know however it has been a month. I will be getting a 3d some time in the next week or so. I hope it is not 1.5. It would be nice if this guy would update saying that he found a work around the HTC unlock.

After spending the whole day (literally......11 to 7:30 p.m.) I am sad to report that I have reached a dead end.

I was hoping to root my Evo 3D but I have the 1.50 version and that appears to be the one that they have yet to crack.

There is a sort of "workaround" via XDA but I want the full root version.

I guess I will just have to wait for the great mods out there to unleash their magic and rescue poor scoundrels like me.

I found a great work around to get my hboot 1.5 rooted...

I used this tool:

Then i did this to flash a recovery:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1306248

Even though my EVO 3D is S-On, I have a customer recovery and I am able to flash any ROM/Kernels/Recovery I want...

WOOHOO!!!!

NOTE: Make sure you read, read, read and then read some more. I am not responsible for damaging your phone, I can tell you I followed the steps in detail and my phone is working fine.
