Saw this posted today about the benchmarks of the new Samsung Galaxy S II vs. the Evo 3D.  Anyone thinking about switching to the Galaxy S II?

Someone in the XDA forum said it very well - "If you are always chasing specs on Android phones, you'll always be sad and probably be broke."

Benchmarks don't necessarily translate to real world performance.  I'm very happy with my 3D's performance - especially now that its rooted.  I can't explain why, but rooting seems to have made the phone rock solid and stable.  If I need faster performance, I can just overclock the CPU.

A week, month or so after you get the latest and greatest, it will be obsolete.

I would wait for the special edition of the HTC Sensation with a 1.5GHZ dual core and internal storage @ 4GB...The 3D is a excellent phone however Sprint has to improve their
3G network wich right now in my area is kinda slow and several areas the signal is weak from 0 bars to 4 bars...I live in a 300K population city...I wonder how batt life will be on the SGSII super Amoled..

I played with the Epic 4G Touch at Sprint today and was impressed with the phone.  Love the bigger screen, larger text, sizeable icons and the call/speakerphone volume is loud.  The AMOLED screen color, sharpness and clarity is exceptional.  Camera is better than the 3D.  YouTube Video playback was flawless, like watching a movie on TV.  Reviews from actual users have been positive.  Have an upgrade eligibility on my other Evo 4G.  Am going to get the Epic 4G Touch and give it a try.

Check the Sprint and xda forums first.  They are having reception and wifi scanning issues with it.  That is why i am still on hold.  My EVO works flawlessly right now.  Just wish i could get someone over to my house and go through the rooting steps.

Got the Epic 4G Touch.  This phone really rocks!  This phone flys through anything I throw at it.  Is faster than my 3D.  I get better reception on the 4G Touch than I do with my 3D.  My 3D drops calls, so far the 4G Touch hasn't dropped any calls.  My old Evo 4G had better reception than my 3D.  Plus the call/speakerphone volume is much louder than my 3D.  Not crazy about Samsung's stock email app so I downloaded K9 and it works great.  Wifi connects easily and quickly.  I don't have any issue with it dropping out.  Overall, I am more impressed with the Epic 4G Touch than with my 3D.  I am glad I got the phone.

Personal experience.

traumatizing experiences that come from the Instinct and the Instinct HD?

I'm willing to give Samsung a try again... there has to be something good if they have sell the numbers reported with their Galaxy 2 series...

However, I will hold on to my E3D until July 2012 since it is when I can upgrade... then I have to make a good decision since I wont be able to upgrade until 2014 after that... Just thinking about it makes me miss the Gold Premier program already!!!!  Cry
