switched from my evo4g to the sgsII and very happy....battery life is much better than the 4G and it's noticeably lighter.  haven't had any issue with wifi scanning or anything like what's been reported...maybe because i am in japan...idk.

I like the specs on the sg24gtouch, bigger screen-yes. But my contract isn't done till june. Will likely have an option of quad core processor with ics, super duper amoled and jet pack.

The word Samsung does scare me.... (Instinct)  But, I can't deny this is definitely the phone I want now even after I was leaning toward the Photon for so long...

The word "Samsung" in mobile devices should be scary, here's my experience with a try and try again finally giving up on them forever:

1.  Samsung flip, forgot the name, had a black smoke face that was smooth and was a great phone, about 8-9 months in started randomly dropping calls while going from tower to tower (mainly while driving).  Eventually got worse..

2.  Samsung Instinct: What a POS, the thing had the worst touch interface, never got any apps and was generally faulty and slow.

3.  Samsung Moment: Sprint & Samsung denial city.  They went on and on in store about how there was no such CDMA lockup issue, even when shown.  I had a tech go "never heard of it" and he wouldn't google it infront of me when I told him to.  Every single Moment was plagued with the CDMA lockup just a matter of when and how.  Luckily mine only did it with wifi on, but that meant wifi could never be used.  Awesome, thanks.

4.  Samsung Epic:  Where do I begin?  The physical keyboard misses keystrokes since 2.1, it took rooters to fix it and to this day (well, 3 days ago when I last used it before getting my Evo 3D) it still did it on 2.3.5, also the latest update reduces the number of satellites locked onto to "save battery life" thus creating massive GPS issues reported all over by users.  Not to mention the random reboots throughout every version of Android.  Also not to mention the release of 2.2 and 2.3 being 8+ months behind everyone else while getting a bloated interface with spyware and bloatware galore (see carrier iq).

This is just off the top of my head, and not one of these issues was specific to me, you'll find it all over the net.  Already seeing someone mentioning wifi and reception issues with the Galaxy S II makes me laugh.  When the Sprint rep came on the phone giving me a very good offer on the phone resetting my upgrade eligibility along with other bill credits she asked what phone I was interested in.  I said "Something NOT a Samsung, most likely the HTC Evo 3D", she said "well I know you said not Samsung, but the Galaxy S II is a nice phone" I said "I don't care, it like every Samsung I used will probably have faults" and sure enough I just read about some already cropping up.  They do very little if any testing at all, don't care about the customer, and will go on boasting about their phones on FB advertising raffles for a free one, how great it is, yadda yadda.  Samsung, keep your worthless phones to yourself!

Unfortunately synthetic worthless benchmarks like Quadrant don't rate in your phone wasting your time with reboots, crashes, and other annoyances...if they did every Samsung would be rated a few hundred at best.

Today Samsung announced that its line of Galaxy S phones, one of the most popular Android phone models of 2010, will not get Google's latest version of Android, Ice Cream Sandwich.

That means about 10 million people who bought the phone are going to be stuck on the outdated version 2.3 Gingerbread (or 2.2 Froyo in many cases) until they decide to drop more cash on a new phone.

It also means Samsung is basically throwing its pledge to the Android "Alliance" that it will keep devices released within 18 months updated with the latest version of the OS out the window.

Well, that is for the original galaxy s. the GS2 has been out for a while and the GS3 will be announced sometime in 2013. 10 million GS1 owners will most likely be moving to a new phone in 2012. Do these reporters think that the average life of a phone is over 2 years?

A few months ago, i would have not considered Samsung, but after actually handling one (my wife's GS2) they have come a long way and all I can say is that HTC better step it up in 2012 or i will use my upgrade for a sammy.

I believe this article was just done to bring negative attention to samsung.

Same old Samsung...12 pages of complaints already, a lot of patterns already developing.  I smell Galaxy Epic part 2.
