First off I went from having a Samsung Rant a year and half ago and finally got a smartphone the EVO 4G. I really loved it and wondered why I'd waited so long to get an app phone. I loved almost everything about it, but an unfortunate accident with a shopping cart crushed the screen and I was ready to use my insurance and get a replacement even though I was up for a new phone (I saw no reason to switch from a phone I loved to a new one yet) I found out radioshack was selling the E3d for $99 one dollar cheaper then my insurance deductible, so I thought it was a no brainer. I've had it for 3 days now and I love this phone (with the exception of the speaker volume), every change they made seems to be so much better. It just seems like a very streamlined version of the old EVO, my wife is already tired of me telling her "Oh look what else it does".
But after reading these boards I get the feeling it has so many flaws. I know some people are just saying they aren't going to upgrade because they are still under contract and can't without paying extra money to do so. But after reading so many comments from actual owners who had 2 or 3 of them and went back to the old EVO I have to wonder. Did I make a foolish rushed mistake? I really like this new EVO, and would hate to go back, but if this truly is a sub par phone I'd like to know now so I don't get so hooked on all of the great new features I'm still discovering.
Things I miss: Louder speakers
Flashlight with 3 brightness settings Up, down, foward, and back buttons on the keyboard
Kick stand, kind of (but I know they have cases with them now)
That's about it so far, and are things I can live without.
**update on flashlight** for those of you who just used the flashlight app from the Android marketplace and don't like it because its not as good as the one on the old EVO. Here is a link to put the original on your E3d:

**2nd update* Still loving this my phone and I made the impossible happen today. My wife, who always hated my smart phone, couldn't understand how to use it, and had a 2 year old basic phone got her first Evo. Short story, her phone died and she wasn't eligible for an up grade for another 14 days. She had to borrow my phone for only 2 days for work. I went into the store to buy an EVO shift for her and she said no, I want the 3d because it had a larger screen. I was shocked because she is so against technology, but I guess spending 2 days with my phone convinced her. But now I have the down side of always having to field multiple ridiculous questions from her on how to do something! But I brought another to the dark side away from iPhone
