HTC Confirms HTC EVO 4G Android 2.2 Froyo Update

it doesn't say when Wink

After Motorola, HTC is the second company to confirm a roll out to Android 2.2 Froyo update. In a statement to PCMag, it said all major HTC handsets will get the update in the near future. “We will announce a full list of phones and dates once we are closer to launching the updates,” the company said. Rest assured the EVO 4G will be the device to get the most amount of attention from the company, and we expect HTC to release the update for the hottest Android phone in the market immediately.

im sure we will get it sooner or later (100% later) or we can always root it and put Froyo on it and even GingerBread (when available)

great news... after the HTC programmers finish their work, we got to wait for Sprint to be in the mood of allowing the upgrade...

usually later... as any instinct, hero and moment user can tell you.  but i must say that at least with blackberry devices they have been really good lately, and even much more ahead of verizon...

But dont go astray too far....

Sprint was and has been the first to release the WebOS updates as they came out (in the US)

and as for the rest of the updates, every other carrier is just as slow(if not slower), as Sprint.

Although I am still excited about the 2.2 Froyo update, here is some discouraging news:

That was obviously a given....they want people to pay for their hotspot feature.

Though, they will be, for the first two months the phones out, allowing for users to use the hotspot function in 4G areas with no charge.

Even though,it wasnt on purpose, because they'll be "fixing" the "problem" by the end of July.

You know, I do not feel discouraged at all. I can see how sprint, or any other carrier, would feel almost compelled to have to charge for the use of this feature. I have seen posts of people planning to cut off their internet service and use their EVO as their home wireless access. If this was a free for all and everyone tethered 4-6 devices(cable box, internet TV, blu-ray player, computer, laptop, etc, etc, etc), it would be huge growth in bandwith use. Maybe slow down access for all.
Besides, I do not believe google has the right to decide which services sprint must offer for free. It is sprints network,  not google's. I know, this does affect me adversely also, but, I'm trying to be impartial and objective.
I would not mind paying with 2 caveats:
1-It would have to be on reliably fast 4g. 3G seems too slow for regular use

2-Not 30$, 15-20 would be more enticing for me.

I didn't realize that this HotSpot had the potential to offer speeds close to Comcast internet service. For me, it would be a savings of $20 for my internet service...definitely worth considering.  Problem is, I suppose no one at my home would be able to go online unless I'm home with the phone? That would be a problem  Huh?
