I've already started the spread but had a question. How can we share our knowledge about the phone when some of us have never used it? How can we get a hold of a prototype. I'm fairly tech savvy when it comes to smartphones and would LOVE to start tweaking and customizing to share with other users as well as help them.

Don't know that any of us here would actually get a prototype, but i'm sure we can all keep an eye out on the interwebs for interesting info.  Maybe some people on here who have used the Android can give us a few tips or let us know what to expect.

I get to play around with other people's phones... i work with 300+ people and they seem to come to me for questions... so when I don't know, i play with it until I figure it out!

I'm like you Ryu.  I am the only IT person in a company of 600+ .  So if someone has a question about anything with an on/off button, they come to me!

When I get a question like that, I just say it is a problem with "user interface", which means the idiot behind the screen!

I agree, I'am almost 99.9% sure I will be getting an Evo.

However, without an Evo in Hand? How are we going to know what are the tweaks and tips
on this superphone before hand?

Well, the Andriod OS is already available, so we won't be completely in the dark.  The main difference between this OS and the one used by a Droid or the Nexus One, is the Sense interface (which is trying to be a little like webos and the deck of cards, but we shall see how close they get).  I am looking forward to doing some research and finding out as much about the OS as possible before the release date.

Also, the HTC Legend is already out (i think), and it has Sense UI on top of Android 2.1... basically the 2 phones should be identical in the OS part... in everything elso, the EVO will kick its @ss!
