That is a nice spec sheet.  I really don't think it will be released then.  That is when their official facbook page says the release event ends, which probably means the release date and price will be announced then.

At first I thought that a release of next week was pure fantasy...  But then this surprise event by apple to talk about OS 4.0, since when has Apple ever done that?

I am starting to think that maybe they could be and Apple jumped on it to get ahead of it. Why else would they be stealing press time from the Ipad on it's release week... to give that time to the Iphone?

Remember... now days it's mostly about getting the next big thing and getting in first. How many Droid users are going to take the hit and break their contract with Verizon to switch over to Sprint for the EVO? If Sprint gets out the gate with this before the Iphone and really soon they can take a large portion of the people like me who have been waiting for these phones. My AT&T contract ended last November and I am waiting for the EVO... I think apple is hoping they can sway me to wait till June for the Iphone HD.

Just my 2 cents.

I would say that it was a possibility, had Best Buy not made such a big deal about offering pre sales in May.  Next week wouldn't give them time to hype this thing up.  You forget, outside the small group of people like us who have been following this, the average consumer has no idea this phone even exists.  And on top of all that, I can't get an upgrade til June, so no one else is allowed to get their hands on this before me. Wink

hey tharamis< what you say makes sense, but i have to agree with stringbean. Sprint needs to do heavy advertisement before releasing this phone.
when we start seeing sprint commercials with the EVO, then i could say the release date is near... plus most likely there will be an announcement of the release date (kinda a release date of the release date!)

I think this is the April 16th date everyone keeps bringing up, and that is mentioned as the end of the facebook event on their official page.

Well Apple may help us get it a little sooner, we may know more tomorrow...

"Sprint and HTC recently launched EVO 4G smartphone at CTIA 2010 and HTC EVO 4G is likely to hit shelves before 6th June this year as claimed by an Android certification engineer for Sprint.

On the other hand, iPhone 4G/HD on Verizon is also likely to hit this summer. Tomorrow apple is holding an event to showcase its next generation iPhone 4.0 firmware. The announcement of new operating system came just after few days of iPad launch surprising the whole iPhone community.

It is very much possible that Apple might unveil its iPhone 4G aka iPhone HD from Verizon before the launch of HTC EVO 4G from Sprint. Sprint would not take any chance and will make sure that HTC EVO 4G is released first, before Apple’s next generation iPhone HD comes into market."
