I just spoke to a best buy rep. He told me they are doing pre-orders at the end of May and are anticipating the phone to be released before the new iphone is announced. So the first week of June makes sense.
He said they take $50 to hold a phone in the form of a gift card and that card is used towards the purchase when it is released.
He also said they should have plenty of phones at release. They pre-ordered 3 incredibles and got 30 phones to sell. So that is good.

I have never bought a phone from Best Buy, I have always bought from Sprint. Is it cheaper? How do you swing the phone to your present Sprint account/number? Will I still get my upgrade discount?

I may want to get on a list to get a phone. I do not know how you get on a list through Sprint.

Just asking guys.

Sprint, sprint, sprint...you need to hurry up on the advertising.  With the incredible, HD2, and new iphone, you're going to loose some EVO customers.

Seriously, every time I'm skipping through the commercials on TV and I see a sprint commercial I quickly rewind so I can see if they mention the EVO....

The never do.... Sad

Buying the phone from besy buy is great. the best part is there are no mail in rebates. so out the door the phone is cheaper. they have all of the upgrade information and will honor the upgrade.
if you an get the phone at best buy then get it there. if they are doing pre-orders i would do it there.
the pre-order is $50. so not bad to ensure you get one of these bad boys.

Ok so I have read tons of threads on here about this release date.  Supposedly the new iPhone has moved its release date up to June 6th and tryed to pull a fast one on Sprint.  With that being said, Sprint is NOT going to allow the iPhone to be released before the Evo!  Common sense is telling me that worst case scenario now with this is the Evo will be released at least on June 6th to compete with the iPhone, or May 30th at the earliest.  We can pretty much guarantee the release date will be a Sunday and as I said, Sprint would roll over in their grave first before they allow the iPhone to release before the Evo!!  Think about it!  I can see Sprint moving the release date 1 week ahead to May 30th, worst case, they release it on the same day as the iPhone.

Tell you what though guys, all the research I've done on this phone is killing me day by day!  All this talk really doesn't matter to me anymore because I just want the Evo to be released so bad!!  Happy huntings!

*******UPDATE*******

I might be hyping this more than necessary... BUT... I was at my local mall in Maryville, TN speaking with the sprint rep and she SHOWED me on their inventory list the HTC EVO 4G, BUT it didn't have a release date. What she did tell me is that the EVO wasn't on that inventory list last week, and that so far if something is on that list but doesn't have a release date, it is right around the corner, usually within 2 weeks at the most.

I ask to get a picture of the paper to share with you all as proof but she said she could get fired for something like that, so it was off the record about the EVO.

EXCITING!!!!!

Here's to hoping it comes out in middle of this month!!!
