Sprint announced "Coming Summer 2010".

Summer 2010 will be from June 21 to September 21. That's 91 days of summer and 91 different possibilities.

Right now I want to say 7/24/2010 as a possible release date. Its just a hunch, I don't have any inside info or own a crystal ball (even though it will be pretty cool)

What do you think the release date will be?

I heard "early" summer of 2010.  Hopefully that means June some time.  I am hoping some time near June 6th, and you can guess why I say that!

Here is an article that says Sprint's official Facebook page says the phone could be released as soon as the middle of next month!!!  As much as I would like to see it sooner, I am not eligible for a phone upgrade until June 6th, so I have mixed feelings...

"This carrier's Facebook page lists an event called "Coming Soon - HTC EVO 4G" that starts on March 23 and ends on April 16. This model was officially unveiled on March 23, so the end date implies that the release is going to be on April 16.

However, this is not at all in line with Sprint's statement during the announcement of the EVO 4G last week that this model is going to be introduced this summer"

I hear ya!

I hope it goes like the Wii though?

The Wii was launched a month earlier that stated launch date.

I have to wait till May 26 for my update.

Tell me if this sounds like India will get the EVO on April 12th...

http://news.ciol.com/News/News/News-Reports/HTC-ready-to-launch-4G-devices-in-India/134083/0/

NEW DELHI, INDIA: Cellphone maker HTC said it is getting ready to come up with 4G devices, but it is waiting a nod from the operators for the go ahead in Indian market.

“We are ready with 4G enabled devices. Once the operators will give us green signal, I promise you we will be the first company to launch 4G devices,” said Jack Tong, vice president, APAC, HTC at the launch of HTC Smart – a smartphone, in exclusive partnership with Bharti Airtel here on Tuesday.

HTC Corporation last week launched HTC EVO 4G handsets in the US market in an exclusive agreement with Sprint.

This smartphone that the company launched on Tuesday in India is exclusively for Bharti Airtel in India and will be priced at Rs 9990. This phone was unveiled by HTC at the Consumer Electronics Show at Las Vegas recently and the first shipment of this phone will be under the business agreement between Airtel and HTC.

As part of the agreement with Airtel, HTC Smart users will get free and discounted packages from the service provider on this smartphone. It will hit market on this April 12 in select 30 top cities across country.

If you're price will directly reflect our prices here, then we can expect the phone to run from $200-250. When I checked the conversion rate: Rs 9990 = US$ 222.11.   Tongue

Here is another leaked review of the phone with some interesting release date info at the end:

“I'm a Android certification engineer (build test apps for Sprint android extensions and review CTS results from device manufacturers), plus Sprint Navigation certification owner..

On devices like this though, our whole team (Product Development and Certification) gets involved in testing and ticketing issues. A lot of stuff just gets waived, but most of the legitimate stuff that I open a ticket on, even if it’s out of my area of expertise, gets taken seriously.”

“We’re working out issues with power consumption in 3g and 4g idle mode. I’m personally making efforts to get HTC to improve the 720 video quality and camera auto focusing speed.

Also, in the last software build, they finally configured it so the dual LED flash would pulse first to determine focus and then a second time when the shot is captured.. Finally, clear, focused, fully lit photos that can be taken in complete darkness.”

Asked – the week of June 6th or sooner release?

Answer – “Sooner.”

Well, if this is true, then they will surprise everyone since that will be before the summer.  Shocked  Grin

All of Sprint's recent flagship devices have released on June (Instinct on 6/20/08, Pre on 6/6/09), so I think they will probably shoot for June release as well... The only problem Sprint had last year was that they announced the Pre on Jan 7 and was released 5 months later... Now the phone was announced on 3/24/10, so if they release it on lets say, 6/21/2010, it will be less than 3 months (which is great and just before apple unveils their next iPhone)

I am now changing my date from 7/24 to 6/21!!!
