New evo user - scary with no knowledge. Ok; b4 I ask my "simple" minded ??'s - bare in mind that I've spent hours reading and am so lost.... that I need one of you brilliant people who use these creatures EVERY second of your day to answer ?'s that I'm SURE have been asked and answered b4 - but I haven't yet mastered the art of "query" b/c everything that comes up is MORE off the track...than what I need.  I'll say; however - that if you come into our hospital - this ICU/Telemedicine Nurse can save your life ....b/c I do THAT everyday Smiley

Ok - I just got this lovely black box and now - need simple apps to make it useable for me - for biz & telemedicine triage.  Cool.... but I can't even figure out how to get it to connect to my home desktop and traveling netbook.  HELP!  I want to browse docs, videos, photos AND transfer - what do I do?

I have a Sprint Hotspot thingy (small black box) that enables me to get my netbook to the internet anywhere I am ...even in a rural critical access point hospital ...but I can't yet get my photos, docs, etc to my home desktop and to netbook from my evo.  I don't want to use usb - either the internet or WIFI or bluetooth. I have desktp with wireless windows xp - acer netbook running windows 7 (starter  version   Smiley  tx

Whew that was alot...There is an iTriage app in the Market.  Medical apps downloaded depend on your preference.  I prefer Skyscape, and have the Nursing Constellation.  Epocrates can be downloaded free also in the Market (I prefer Davis' Drug Guide from Skyscape because it gives drug incompatibility, so no extra call to pharm needed).  I don't know how to link to them in the Market in the event you're viewing this from your phone.   You may also want to download EMSG Lite from the Market, which is Emergency Medical Spanish Guide.  Hope these helped.  I can try and help you to transfer via Bluetooth.

Go to Settings/Wireless&Networks/Bluetooth Settings.  Turn on the BT and make device discoverable.  Pair with your laptop or desktop (or both).  Once paired, you should be able to send the document using QuickOffice.
(Khassy will probably edit my post or make her own to make it more user-friendly)

Another really useful app is Epocrates, find it in the market.

You can tether the phone to your netbook/notebook with the USB charging cord it came with and PDANet or Easytether, also available in the market. This will give you the ability to use the phone as your internet connection (although it is technically a breach of contract if you are not paying Sprint for tethering, many people do without consequence... not advocating, just saying). For either of these, you will also need to install the client software on your computer. I believe it is posssible, using either of these apps to use the phone as a external drive and internet connection at the same time.

Good luck and enjoy!

I you download Easytether, you won't need the Hotspot thingy (small black box) since your evo will essentially become IT.

And why wont' you want to use the USB cable to transfer files? Ok, never mind. If your computers have bluetooth, there are apps you can use to transfer files through BT. If they don't have bluetooth, then you have three options:

USB
Easytether
Dropbox.

Dropbox is online storage. Anything in your dropbox is accessible through your phone or any computer. Think of it as a Flash Drive or memory stick that connects to everything, even your phone.
