Every time my EVO connects with my Ford Sync system via Bluetooth, the music player automatically goes into play mode.
Is there any way short of removing all music to stop this?
Normally I stream a radio station so I have to stop the player first.

Which music player are you using? Try going into the player's settings and look for a setting that auto-starts it on connect.

I'm having this same problem with my Mazda 3 and Evo 4G. when I start the car the phone connects automatically, and begins playing a random song from my library. BUT when I launch the Music app, it DOES NOT  show me what the bluetooth is playing!! It shows a completely different song!! when I hit play there, the bluetooth song stops and that song starts!  ALSO if my phone screen is locked, when I press the power button I see a screen that DOES show me the song playing in bluetooth with a play pause button and another button to actually unlock the screen.

This tells me that there is another music player somewhere in the android operating system that is linked to bluetooth. but I cannot find it anywhere!

The only music apps I have on my phone are the default Music, and double twist. and neither one of these are being activated by bluetooth.

Any thoughts?

I have a Mazda 6 and I have the same problem.  I do not have any music in my music app. but random sound clips from other apps have somehow been added into the library.  When my phone connects it auto starts these annoying sounds, ice cracking, wind, waves, thunder.
If anyone has an answer as to why this happens it would be great.  My Pandora works great but if I am not playing any music I feel that I am in a meditation booth.
How can I stop this.

Which music player are you using? Try going into the player's settings and look for a setting that auto-starts it on connect.

Also, there are different music players you can get from the Market that use a minimum file size in order to avoid doing things like playing short clips from other non-music apps.

@Khassy...  You're still not understanding the issue... It doesn't matter WHICH music player you're using. There is a completely INDEPENDENT bluetooth music player that takes over the moment your phone connects with the car. This player doesn't show up ANYWHERE that I've been able to locate in the phone, so there are no settings to mess with!!!  I have a feeling that even if I were to delete EVERY music app on my phone this bluetooth player would STILL be playing stuff!!! (I've only got 3: MOG, double twist, and the default music app)

I have no idea what you are talking about and seeing as how I don't own a Mazda with a bluetooth player, I'm not exactly sure what it is you expect of me, and yelling at me isn't going to help. I offered some suggestions. If they don't work for you, then they don't work for you. My suggestion *has* helped others who have had that issue. I would suggest doing an internet search regarding your specific car and issue rather than sitting there screaming at me.

Then wouldn't you think that it has to do with the stereo and sync system of the Mazda and nothing to do with the Evo? The phone doesn't have this "secret/hidden" music player. More than likely the car is connecting the phone as a disk drive and automatically playing the music that is found on the SD card. You asked for help and just because someones advice didn't work, does not constitute being rude to them for not fixing your problem.

Apparently, this is not Evo-specific.

http://priuschat.com/forums/gen-iii-2010-prius-audio-electronics/81407-droid-gen-3-bt-autostart-streaming.html

I suspect it isn't even Android-specific.  Maybe not even phone-specific.  I'm going to bet it even starts an iPod streaming when connected.

Of course, actually doing some research before blaming the Evo, isn't nearly as much fun. Smiley

@all: Here is a quick video that illustrates the problem. Rather than trying to describe it, and going round and round...

evo autoconnect problem

@Ice: that is an interesting and useful thought that the car is the culprit. My iPhone would also auto connect and start playing, but the ipod software would show me exactly what was playing when it autoconnected, so it wasn't that big a deal. on the evo there is a disconnect between the music players and what is actually played when the auto connect kicks in. You can see that clearly in the video. That disconnect is definitely an Android thing. The very idea that you could have more than one music player on your device opens that door wide to all sorts of whackiness.

@Crash: Thanks for the link that got searching in the right direction. I haven't found a solution yet, but it helps focus the effort. BTW, switching from an iPhone to an Evo, has really forced me to be much more device "agnostic", and I'm not "blaming" the Evo. There are definitely things I don't like about it and Android, but that's for a different topic.

@khassy:  using caps to emphasize certain words in a sentence isn't screaming... this is screaming... IF I HAD USED ALL CAPS ALL THE TIME, YOU COULD EASILY INTERPRET THAT AS SCREAMING!!!!!!!!!!! (having lots of exclamation points at the end of the sentence is a good way to add emotion)  In this case I'm using carefully selected caps words to help get my point across. A point, I felt that you had missed. I didn't call you names, or insult your intelligence. I do see that I forgot to say "Thank you". sorry about that... Thanks for taking the time to respond.

Seeing that the cars stereo said it was searching leads me to still believe it is finding the sd card in the phone and connecting it as a disk drive so to speak. Being that the phone is Android, I am leaning to the possibility that the stereo is "connecting" to it and possibly transmitting player controls to the phone. I will see what I can find on the stereos in Mazdas and see if this may be what is going on for you.

Edit 3: Thought of something and looked into this some more. I installed Double Twist since two people had stated they were using it. Found something interesting out. Check pics.

Are these settings checked? The "USB Drive" is questionable if it plays a part as I don't have a way to check right at this time.

Now look at what I was able to see when the phone was locked.

Matches exactly as what is seen in the video. Khassy was right about it being in the player settings.
The reason why it wasn't the same as what was in the "Now playing" on the default music player is because the enque list you made in each player is different.

Hi Everyone,

It's me again with the Mazda 6.  I don't have any songs in my music player, I removed DoubleTwist sometime ago and I still have the problem.
I don't want to throw a wrench in the works but here is what I have found out.

1. Same problem on start up.  Car and phone connect and music clip or I should say sound clip plays.

2. Screen looks the same as bendingpixels video.  Wrong sound clip when I open music player also.

Here is the odd part.

3.  Of all my apps and games, the only clips that load are from GunBros by Glu.  The sound clips are automatically added into my playlist.  I can't figure out how to delete it from my playlist.  I did go into settings and manage apps.  Cleared music cache, the sound clips stopped.  Force quit Music app.(the Andriod standard one that comes with the Evo.)  I then notice that GunBros is running and I force quit that also.
I switch the radio to FM then back to Bluetooth/CD/AUX and the whole process starts again.

4.  GunBros when downloaded said it was going to SD card.  When I search it out on the phone it is on the phone not on the SD.  The option to move to SD is not available.  I downloaded MoveToSD v1.1 by CurveFish and searched for GunBros and it doesn't show up on the phone or the SD card with that app.

YIKES!!  Lot's of hair pulling here.  LOL.  Just frustrating.

5.  Next move is to remove GunBros  Cry I have a good character that I hate to lose.  I was hoping that soon, Glu would upgrade the app to save online as it has with the iphone and others.  It's a great game.  At least I like it.

Thanks for any and all help.  I hope this input helps resolve the problem.  It does appear that it may be vehicle specific because I don't see other people with the same problem.  Hopefully we can resolve it.

BTW Bendingpixels, you don't happen to also race electric go carts in the San Fernando Valley?  There happens to be another racer at the indoor track that uses that as a racing name.  Thought I would ask.

Thanks again.

Edit:

I just now resolved my problem.  It was simple but disappointing.  I uniinstalled my problem app which was Gun Bros by Glu.  I went back out to my car and started it up, sure enough the EVO music app didn't start up.  When I opened the Music app it showed an exclamation point and said no music found.

I don't have any music files in music app and Gun Bros would automatically install it's sound clips even after I had cleared the cache from the music app..  Many of my other apps have music clips but they don't effect the phone.

If you read my last post you will see some other info that may help.

Good luck.  Maybe it is where your songs are stored that is causing the problem or they have an auto launch feature which seems to be the problem with Gun Bros.

Hey Joel, thanks for the great info... I've been meaning to get back here to post up, but had a death in the family, and I've been offline for a while. Shortly after making that video, I got pissed off, and deleted both players... no music played. I then put the original Evo Music app, and things worked as expected! I now have a 1 to 1 relationship  between what I see on screen and what I hear on the speakers.

Seeing Ice's post it all makes perfect sense now.

Joel, that IS me at Mb2 raceway!  That place is awesome! I wish I could afford to do it every day! That's cool, you're here in the valley!

Thanks to all for the help!

I have read through this entire thread hoping to gain some insight on this problem but no haps. My problem is similar however, my music player, factory installed, keeps randomly playing with just my headset plugged in.  I just spoke with my co-worker who also owns an EVO 4G and he has been having the same problem as well (headset, no bluetooth).  So to say all that....it's not just a bluetooth problem.  Please let me know if you find a solution to this annoying problem.  Thanks.

As has been stated, its not a bluetooth issue. Its an app issue. Check your music app's settings.
