Q: When a call comes in, I swipe down to unlock my phone and it automatically answers the call. What do I do if I don't want to answer the call?
A: You can either ignore it and let it go to voicemail or refuse the call by swiping UP instead of down, which will also unlock the screen.

Q: How do you delete the history from the stock/built-in browser?
A: Open the browser and press menu, more, history, menu, clear history.

Q: How do you delete the download history from the stock/built-in browser?
A: Open the browser and press menu, more, downloads, menu, clear list.

Q: What's the best way to exit apps when I'm done using them?
A: If the app has a quit/exit option (usually accessible by pressing the Menu button), use that. Otherwise, use the back (arrow) button to exit apps. Do not use the Home button, as that does not exit the apps, it merely minimizes them and they will continue to run in the background.

Q: Where are my pictures and videos stored?
A: On your SD card. Look for a folder called DCIM.

Q: How can I access the SD card on my phone?
A: Download a program called Astro File Manager from the Market.

Q: How can I set individual ringtones for text messages?
A: You will need to use an alternate messaging app such as Handcent, which can be obtained from the Market. Make sure you turn off notifications in the default app or you will receive double notifications.

Q: How do I stop the music player? I don't see any options to turn it off.
A: Use the Pause button.

Q: If I have to reset my phone, will I have to repurchase apps I already paid for?
A: No, you should be able to download them again for free as long as you use the same main Gmail account when you set up your phone. (Note: this also applies if you have to replace your phone with a new unit.)

Q: Can I video chat with people using an iPhone or computer?
A: Yes, with certain apps you can. Check our Mega-List of Apps for some video chat apps (Note: not all video chat apps are cross-platform. You may have to do some checking to see which ones are. Some which may are Tango, fring and Yahoo Messenger Chat.)

Q: I downloaded a new keyboard. How do I activate it?
A: Once it is installed, go to Settings, Language & Keyboard and activate it by checking the box next to the new keyboard. Then go to an empty text box, long-press in it until a menu pops up and choose Input Method. Then choose the keyboard you want to use.

Q: Can I sync my iTunes library with my Evo?
A: Yes, there are a number of apps that will help you do that, or you can manually drag and drop the files onto your SD card. Some apps are Easy Phone Tunes, iSyncr, Music WithMe and doubleTwist. If any of your music or videos are DRM’d (copyright protected), you’ll most likely need to unDRM them before they will be playable. See the “Movie Conversion” link below for more information on removing the DRM.

Q: How do I delete the apps that came on the phone? I don't use stuff like the Nascar app.
A: You can't, not without rooting your phone (see "Rooting Information" below if interested in more info on rooting). However, you can delete the widgets/icons from the screens by long-pressing them and dragging them down to the trash can that pops up.

Q: I accidentally deleted (favorites/weather/Friendstream/etc.) widget from my screen. How do I get it back?
A: Press the + button, select Widget, then select whichever one you deleted. The Favorites widget is listed under People. The main clock/weather widget is listed under Clock (use the arrows to get to the 3rd clock).

Q: I have duplicate contacts showing up in my People app. How do I fix that?
A: The easiest way is to go to your Gmail account on a computer. Click Contacts. Under More Options, choose Find and merge duplicates. If you find you still have duplicates on your phone, go to Settings, Accounts & Sync, and uncheck "Sync contacts." Then go to the People app, press Menu, Export, and export your contacts to the SD card. Once that is done, go to Settings, Manage Applications, All, Contacts Storage, and press Clear Data. Scroll down and do the same for People. That should wipe out all of your contacts on your phone. Then go back into Accounts & Sync and turn the Google contacts sync back on. Your contacts should now sync correctly and, if so, you can delete the export file on your SD card.

Q: I have some contacts saved as phone and some as Google. How do I fix it so that all of my contacts sync and are backed up automatically?
A: The easiest way to fix them so that they all sync correctly is as follows:
1. Go into the People app and export all of your contacts to your SD card.
2. Go into Settings, Accounts and Sync and uncheck the box next to Google Contacts sync.
3. Go into Settings, Applications, Manage applications, click on the All tab, scroll down til you find Contacts Storage, and click Clear Data. Then find the People listing and do the same. This will delete all of the contacts from your phone.
4. Transfer the file to your computer.
5. Import them into your Gmail contacts, do the find and merge.
6. Clean up the contacts as needed.
7. Export the file on your computer somewhere where you can find it if needed. (Do not transfer it to your phone at this time, this is just a backup/just in-case file.)
8. Go back to your phone and go to Settings, Accounts and Sync and check the box next to Google Contacts. Make sure the sync icon runs.
9. Check your people app and make sure all of your contacts synced back to your phone.
10. If not, transfer the file from your computer to your SD card and import the file into your People app. When importing, make sure you import them as Google contacts.

Q: I need to reset my phone. Is it possible to back up my apps and data so I don't lose them? How do I do a reset and how do I restore my stuff afterward?
A: First, many apps have a backup/restore function built into them. Check your apps for one and back them up if you can before doing anything else so it will have your most recent saved information. Also go to Menu, Scenes and save your current scene so you can try to restore it later. Then follow the steps below:

1. Go to the Market and download MyBackup (and if your phone is rooted, the ShootMe app). The free version of MyBackup is sufficient at this time.
2. Start the ShootMe app and take screen captures of each of your screens by shaking the phone, so you can remember more easily what your screens looked like in case the Scene save didn't work. Shake the phone until you hear a shutter snap sound. (Obviously, skip this step if your phone is not rooted.)
3. Start MyBackup and back up all of your apps and data.
4. Go to Settings, SD & Phone Storage and click Factory Data Reset. This will reset your phone to the state it was in when it was taken out of the box. This may take several minutes. Just let it run until its done.
5. When its finished, follow the prompts to set the phone up again. As noted in one of the Q&As above, as long as you register with the same Gmail account as you did initially, you will be able to redownload apps you previously paid for without paying a second time.
6. Go to the Market and download MyBackup again. Use it to restore all of your apps and data. Note that if you previously used Google to sync your contacts and calendar, if you restore them with MyBackup, you may end up with duplicates of everything. So I would recommend installing everything but contacts and calendar at this time. Once everything is restored, you can go into People and Calendar to make sure everything synced back from Google. If not, you can restore them at this time with MyBackup.
