This will show you how to install apps and games on your phone that you have an existing .apk file for using Astro File Manager.

1. Go to the market on your phone and search for Astro File Manager and download it.  




2. Plug in your phone and you will see this screen.



3. Press "Disk Drive Mount as disk drive" and then press done.





5. Now go to my computer on your desktop and open up your sd card (removable disk G: on my computer)





6. Create a folder named apks(or whatever you want it to be) and put the .apk file from your computer in this folder.



 

7. Now close the window on your computer.  

9. Open up Astro File Manager on your phone and go to the folder that you created.

10. Press on the app you want to install.





11. Press "Open App Manager"





12. Press "Install"





13. The App Manager will run and then press "Install" again.





14.  Your app will now install, when it is done you can either open it up from there or press done and exit out of Astro.  

Your app that you just installed will be in the list of "All Programs".

No, it's a free file manager from the market.  They have plenty out there but Astro is the best one IMO.

Lol good man. I plan on getting the evo in September or October... whenever my contract runs out. Schools been going good. On summer now! wink

Also don't forget, if you downloaded a legal application file to your PC and you are installing it from the SD card to your phone, the HTC Evo 4G wont let you install it by default for security purposes.

Because the application was not downloaded directly from the phone, its going to be treated as a "3rd party software" and will not allow the installation to go through unless this option is checked.

On your phone you have to go to:

Settings --> Application --> Unknown Sources  and select that option.

You can then install the software with no hassles.

You need to download it from the market.  Changed the first step to include it, thanks forgot about that.   Wink
