Bluetooth File Transfer works fabulously, although my computer has suddenly decided to be a butthead and isn't cooperating in many ways. But I've been using BFT for awhile now, flawlessly.

I am really thick so I'm missing the whole purpose of this. Why would you put apps and and games in your computer?

Because some games and apps are only available in apk form, particularly those in beta and not available in the Market. For instance, I was helping to beta test TweetDeck. The file was only available as an apk download from their website and had to manually be uninstalled and reinstalled with each subsequent update.

In addition, some of us backup our files to our SD cards and instead of reinstalling from the Market, we reinstall our saved versions instead, which are apk files.

Ok, so I understand that first part and why you would use your computer. But for the second part, you don't have to use the computer, right? You just work with your phone and any of the back up apps.

Correct, it does not require connecting to the computer unless the saved files were transferred to the computer for some reason.

You don't need to. Just choose the second option to skip formatting it.

Usually means there's a problem with the file.
