Click on Handcent, click on the persons name you want to set a tone for, on the top of the screen is a telephone on the left and a settings button on the right. Click on the settings button, click on Notification settings nd you can set sound, icon, vibrate, blink led, etc. Works great. Uses MP3's too.

Ken I did this and some how my default ringtone still stopped my individual ring tone from working for some reason.

This is for ringers and not text tones. I was having this same problem when I would set individual ringers for contacts before I got handcent. It still chooses to play the custom tone I initially set and not the individual ringer for the contact. Not sure why this is happening at all

I'm not having any trouble with the Ringers for calls at all. I did initially have double text message alerts because the stock messaging program was trying to notify me as well as andcent. I went into settings and turned off my stock notification.

I downloaded Ringo, but it doesn't work for texts for me!   Cry  The regular ringtone I set as my default through that program worked, but not the text tones...

Hmmm interesting I have always been able to set individual ringtones to contacts since I got the evo a year and a half ago.  Without needing a app or anything. Just go into contacts and their is an option to set the ringtone for that person,  my girlfriends ringtone has been the whistle from kill bill, and normal ringtone is from crank since I got the phone.
