Hi Y'all
I'm an Australian just come over from the world of iPhone, using my Evo for networking my apartment.  The PC's (x2) are up and running, just working on seeing if I can get my Netgear NAS and Squeezebox working.
I've recently downloaded the Android application Tasker.  Brilliant !  Easy to learn and gives you a total rules-based automation on your Android. It costs, but you get a free 14-day trial download to work out whether you'd use it. It's a little over US$6
I'm looking, let me know if you like it.
All best

Welcome. Yes, there is a thread in the App section discussing Tasker.

How about me contributing to the forum with the thrills, spills and frustrations/joys of networking an apartment.
I've had little time to think how I'll do it, and my experiences may help others, or make sure others avoid the same stupid mistakes as me !
Any idea where a first post along those line would sit most comfortably ?
Cheers

Hmmm, OK.  If setting up my Evo as the central hub of my network is "off topic", then maybe this isn't the forum for me after all.  Perhaps this forum is for stuff dealing with customising your ring tone, or changing wall paper, rather than streaming TV through your Evo, or creating a database of financial data by scheduled tasks set up on Evo.
Thanks Zeria, very helpful.

Just remember that what may be of vital importance to you, might not be of the least importance to anyone else. In addition, you didn't say you wanted to discuss networking an apartment with your Evo as the central hub, so going by your description, yes, the lounge would be the appropriate place. If discussing how to do it based around your EVO, then I'd suggest in the general Evo discussion forum.

And please try to avoid taking a snotty attitude with a mod that's merely trying to help answer a question you asked, particularly when YOU asked the question badly (i.e., didn't say what you meant or didn't fully describe what you meant). And please don't make the mistake of thinking you are the superior intellect here. There are other intellectuals here as well, some with high levels of technological skill.

Thanks.

WOW !  Snotty attitude ??  Superior intellect ??  Take a deep breath, have another read and stop to think if any of what was said was actually "snotty" or was in the least bit assuming any "superior intellect".
I thought I was posting to a forum on the Evo 4G - and thought one of this great little machine's major differentiators was its networking ability.
I also haven't much idea about how I'll go about making the most of my Evo in this regard.

OK, it seems this is not the forum for any contribution from me.  I guess I'll also have to learn to take further "moderator contributions with a pinch of salt.  You were, after all, just trying to be helpful.

Not going to get into a pissing match with you. If you want to contribute, please do so, in a civil manner without denigrating the other users of this forum.
