Not much of a surprise.  A US agency siding with a US company is kind of a no-brainer.  I wouldn't be surprised if someone filed a patent on breathing and then, the rest of us wouldn't be permitted to breathe.  Remember Amazon and 1-click shopping?

Hang on a minute.  I'm filing a patent application on tortillas. Tongue

American or Chinese? In this case same.

Invented a product, picking up prototypes today. Physical, not process or computational.

Company doing machining let me talk to their legal adviser. Said don’t try to patent it. Could take over a year and then a minor fundamental structural change would void its protection. Have designed 5 different versions myself. Even if not voided, cost to defend it would be prohibitive.

She said it’s a very simple design. One of those “why didn’t I think of that” products and patents are for the big companies now.

1.  HTC is Taiwanese, not Chinese.
2.  The current patent system is absurd.  Minor modifications can get you around a patent, but you can patent things that are basically nothing but ideas.  Insanity.

Great.  When it comes out, I'll patent the modification. Tongue wink

In that case, don't let anyone know what it is.  Because they'll patent it, make a fortune, and you'll hate yourself.

I have a book title in mind that I will use when I feel it's sufficient enough to produce a genuine novel, and maybe even make a dime of profit. It's a collection of dreams I've been recording over the past 3-4 years.

It will need much editing before it's complete... my writing style has changed a bit during that time.

As far as Apple and HTC, regardless of who is right and who is wrong, I like android, I *HATE* iPhoneys, so even if apple wins, as long as HTC can keep churning out the phones I like while paying a royalty to Apple, that's fine by me, even if I have to pay a little more for the phones.

Sorry.  You cannot copyright a book title.  Only the content of the book is subject to copyright.  If it is sufficiently different, you might be able to trademark it.

Is that because there are a lot more books than movies, so it's less hustle or something, or something along those lines?
