Robots cheaper than people!

"We're having an increasingly difficult time finding Ph.D. candidates or graduates to work at Intel from the United States," Bagley said during an economics luncheon last year.

"Look at the engineering schools across the country, and you have well over three-fourths of the students who are foreign nationals. We end up sending them home where they compete against us."



Who’s to blame? Take your pick.

1. Stupid programs that waste tons of money on frivolous concepts to insure no one feels slighted (no grades, no keeping score, no homework)?
2. Schools districts where there are only 3 teachers to every “administrator”?
3. Gov programs that have made higher education “affordable” to the point that it’s hard to get a real education?
4. Parents who don’t care what their kids are taught?

America, land of the self-indulgent and home of the mentally lazy.

That's a start but it might back fire, I can see foreign competition offering higher pay to well qualified individuals. Think about it, and everyone is different, but in general, if you were offered the equivalent of $1,000,000 USD to work in India or $200,000 to stay state side... you see the problem here.

Me personally? I care far more for our country than I for India, etc, but I also don't trust the average person, people are greedy, sometimes pathetically greedy.

The second solution, that could go places. There would need to be a contract stating something along the lines that in order to attend and graduate there you must then work for a hand full of companies for X amount of time, and possibly that you would not be allowed to work for other countries in that field of work.

I don't see how it's any different than contracts with tax preparation companies in that typically for two years after working for one you can't work for another. Is that questionably gray? I think so. Difference in my proposal is it might help keep greater minds in the states. Doesn't justify it from the sense of a free market, but like I said, I want the US to prosper more than other countries, call it blind patriotism if you want (but we need to keep the Chinese happy, they practically own us after all...)

Per India paying out more than the US, I admit that was a bad example, point stands though, just replace it with another country that would pay more.

Not true.  we can easily screw them.

Who says we have to pay them?
