Wow that dang Thunderbolt is one powerful phone!
It makes our beloved Evo look silly in bench marks test, etc.

Even the Kick stand looks 10 times better!

I wonder how that 1400 mah battery will last? As we know the Evo has a 1500 mah
battery that IMO isn't very good.

I surely hope we get gingerbread 2.4 before TB though?

An 8 month old phone against one just now releasing.  That's a realistic schmack down.

Z,

IMO,8 months is not that long of a time?

Heck...My PS3 is going on 5 years old and it is still one of the most powerful
gaming systems out there if not the most?

But For mobile smartphone argument sake?

Why does a 6 month older Nexus one with froyo  and an Evo with froyo
run about the same or even better than our Evo in bench mark test?

If in fact technology in smart phones progress at a much faster rate as you state?
Remember we did have a 6 month so to say technical cushion on the N1(Jan,5,2010)

Why doesn't our Evo stomp the N1 in raw horse power like the TB did to us?  Undecided

So that means we got stomped by 6 month older smartphone too then? Cry

I terms of phones 8 months is a long time, and for your ps3 they had to create almost all the hardware for it its more a factor of milking the cow till its dry rather than not being able to build a better console also no one wants to shell out 400 or more dollars plus the cost of games every couple of years. And don't scream backwards compatibility because not many people do it.

Verizon most likely said we need a phone that's better than the EVO so that's what they got, smart they have the iPhone and the best Android phone. If they came with plan rates similar to Sprint they could make a lot of people jump ship from ATT and sprint. All they did was  basically add more RAM to make it run faster.

8 months is like 3 in phone-years. Smiley

As far as the N1, that phone was googles baby.  It wasn't bogged down by a skin like sense, it was a pure android phone.  The Thunderbolt has the advantage of a newer generation processor, more ram, and more than likely, advances in software management.

Technology in cell phones is advancing at a remarkable rate.  Case in point - dual core phones are just now releasing, and they have already announced quad core for possibly the end of the year.

Exactly. An 8 month old phone vs. a brand new phone, is not a fair comparison. You must compare it to other phones being released around the same time.

I'm not worried. The next big thing is always around the corner. Who knows what HTC has in store for us Evo owners down the road? I think the only reason why Verizon wanted an HTC phone was to try to take the Evo out, since their droid x didn't even leave a mark. I'm pretty sure that by the time our contracts are up, there will be the next gen evo, and it will better that the TB!

True dat!

Don't get me wrong...  I am really happy with my Evo.

However, I admit am a bit jealous of the fact that the Big Red
got a Phone(Droid X) right away to combat the Evo head to head.
Which, we all know the out come.
When that didn't work?
They then ordered up a LTE 4G phone from HTC that looks just like an Evo
that packs some hardware and software punch and got one.

I hope Sprint at least drops the 30 dollars hotspot fee!

All these  phones are getting  so  much  better .   They   are    all   nice.   Every few  months  a  better phone is going to come  out.     The only thing you could go by is  the  monthy   cost, service  and   how you are  treated.   Im happy with my  Evo( customer serivce  on the other hand )     like i bet i would be  happy with the  tunderbolt.  The i-phone  5 is  coming out  soon and i bet they make that phone much better.  Sprint has the double screen phone .  Its  like  eating .    Y ou have  5  great  dishes  but  your only hungry for  1  of  them  .     If you keep lo oking at  someone  elses   plate  you  wont  be  happy with yours  even thought it is  delicious

There are many new phones with better hardware and better screens. The thunderbolt has the same screen size, but what I'm saying is, one of the main reasons I have an evo is because of that 4.3 inch screen. If the palm pre 3 boasts a 1.4 ghz processor with a tiny ass screen, I don't see the point
