This is my first touch screen phone, as well as my first android phone. Got it about 8 hours ago. There are too many great things about this phone, so I'll just list a few things I didn't like:

  • This phone runs a lot hotter than I was expecting. The back, on the kickstand, is extremely warm. (I've never really had a smartphone, so I don't know if this is normal)
  • The camera is basically holding up the back of the phone, which is just asking to be scratched.
  • The battery is half gone from a full charge after an hour of normal use. That's really worrying me.

Those are my three main issues with the phone. I'm excited about this phone, but I'm also not used to this keyboard system and whatnot. I highly dislike the AIM apps for android as well.

But I'm still not regretting the purchase Smiley

Your 1st and 3rd concerns are typical of the "latest and greatest" smartphones out there....

The camera thing is an issue but I've been propping up the kickstand for that problem until I find a decent case for the phone.

I wouldnt worry about it too much. Just charge your phone whenever possible. Also, when the phone is working and working it'll start to get warm. It's common. At least these arent blowing up like the iphones were Tongue

this phone is great, much faster than my Moment and don't have to use any app killers.  (just read it's not good to use anyway).  it's responsive and vibrant, just getting used to moving my finger with one hand across the entire phone since it's bigger too but i'll adapt very soon.  so far soo good and soooo worth it.

LOVE it!  Also, I can't even join qik right now. Tells me I'm not connected to the network which is not true.

My friend is having the same problem with her phone but I'm not. Man, Sprints network is taking a major a$$ whooping right now!

So far so good! It's big but then again I'm 6ft 4 so it feels good in the hands. I have had "operator error" issues trying to figure out somethings for for the most part getting around on the phone seems very user friendly. Still learning what all it can do so I'll be checking in to the forum for tricks of the trade.

I must say that I'm also one who feels the major tech sites like Gizmodo and Engadget did not make the launch much to do as they have or will have when it comes to Apple. The pre reviews of this phone have been for the most part positive so why not the major coverage it deserves....ok I vented, feeling better now

I noticed that as well ... They have more fanfare when Apple even talks about a new release ...  I like how it's a little more under the radar, and not "look at me" !!

i got it and love it.. the only things that are kinda wack are that the battery does lose its juice pretty fast.. then again i havent put it down since i got it so maybe once i curtail usage the battery will last longer.
i was gona complain about the kickstand getting hot as hell, then i remembered that the back of my old ass htc touch from like 07/08 would also get hot.

Wow, the battery thing needs to be looked into, it can be a common issue of the radio trying to lock on to a chip network (note that Sprint is CDMA) That may also explain the running hot factor.

Here is a post that can help.

http://www.evo4gforum.net/htc-evo-4g-general-discussion/found-a-way-to-increase-battery-life-10x/

Also, if you don't need to have 4g coverage, or don't use the browser enough to make it worth it, turn it off. Another thing you can try is brightness, you would be surprised at how your eyes will ajust to a lower brightness, even if it looks strange at first. There are other services you could turn off, or look into a Sedio extended battery (which I don't have the heart to recommend since hinges are known to break and is low quality cells.)

You could turn of GPS, but I recommend keeping it on in case of loss (Note that the Evo functions on A-GPS.
