If you ever wondered if the Billy Goat Tavern from Saturday Night Live was real - it is - highly recommend if you’re downtown Chicago – if you want a laugh try ordering fries. The single cheeseburger is the best buy – really hunger?  - Get two singles. Also, no plates or trays. They’re served on sheets of waxed paper

Yes it is located on the bottom level of a double street. Been in this location over 75 years.

Wendella river cruse – half price from Groupon + 1 drink – wife didn’t want anything – 2 Long Island Iced Teas went down very well in 90+ heat.

Used wide angle lens – some buildings look tilted – Viet Nam memorial 2nd largest in US – just like in DC, people leave flowers and photos which are collected every night.

Also no panhandlers or sleepers.

River much cleaner than in years past

I miss Chicago, we went there last year and loved every minute of it. We went during the summer, DNW to go during the winter months thought.

Grew up near Division and Homan – graduated Lane Tech June ’65 (6,000 guys – no girls, weird during musk season - which was all the time).

Grew up much faster than suburban kids. Had to.

Best tellable memory – late Aug ‘64 – close to 100 during day - girlfriend’s aprt in Old Town when it was just starting to get popular – no air conditioning back then - slept of back porch a lot - made 10 lbs of popcorn – went up on roof and threw it off – yelled it was snowing. Police not real pleased with riot we almost caused.

Billy Goat is one of the  cheapest places to eat DTC. Don’t let them talk you into a double.
