I modified an aviation PDA yoke mount I had to attempt to hold my EVO on my bicycle handle bars.  This worked pretty good for the first 20 miles of my trip.  Unfortunately, once it got dark it got much harder to see and avoid large bumps.  I slammed into a frost heave on the trail going about 15mph.

The EVO jettisoned from it's mount, tried and failed to fly, and slammed into pavement with the top left corner taking the full impact at 15mph from handlebar height and then slid down the path and into the grass.

It took me about 10 minutes with my bike headlight looking for the battery that bounced into the high grass.  I found it, popped it back in, booted the phone, and its like nothing happened.  There is a small scuff mark in the corner that hit the ground.  The rest of the case, the glass, and its general operation were completely unharmed.

I'm impressed.  wink

Good to hear!

I also bike with my evo, I use it for music since it rings throuh the headphones. I'd like to see a picture of this mount, I have been thinking about how to do this for a while.

That's impressive that it didn't cause any problems with your Evo. I guess that was a good test.

Awesome, looks like it will fit an evo in just about any case. I might order this and see if i can get it to sit on my top tube instead of my handlebars.

There are cases out there like the Otterbox Defender, or that GoBallistic case.  Sure they do add to the bulk, but since you wouldn't be directly holding it anyway, not a big deal.  What is, however, is saving your phone from scuffs, scratches, and pitting when it gets dropped in a situation like this.  Well that and keeping the battery inside, so you get a nice recorded shot of your phone flying through the air.  XD

For most people, probably not needed.  But if you bike/motorbike/drive with your phone in a holder of some kind, and you can get the holder to accept the case, quite invaluable!

The seidio rugged is also a great protective case for the Evo4G.

I hope you want to see the picture for reference of how not to build a bike mount lol.

I will start biking again in the spring and will keep the Evo4G in the Seidio extended rugged case on my belt with the belt clip. Smiley
