I decided to root my evo and I started doing some research but there are so many videos out there rooting the evo...which and should I follow?

depends, some of those videos are for older version.  If you on gingerbread, look for videos with revolutionary root method.  you can tell what version your on by going to settings/about phone/ software info/andriod version.   if its 2.3.3, its gingerbread.   if its 2.2 its froyo.
