(NOTE: IF YOU HAVE NOT ROOTED YOUR PHONE BEFORE, READ THIS THREAD FIRST!!!)

If you are rooting with Unrevoked3, you MUST uninstall HTC Sync from your computer. If you have not previously installed it, you must do so first, then uninstall it, leaving the drivers on your computer. You can find HTC Sync here.

Official version released.
http://www.unrevoked.com/#evo

towards the bottom of the release page, hit more info for instruction.

IF YOU HAVE PROBLEMS, read the Unrevoked help page and/or the Unrevoked Root Wiki before posting.

Rooted with this version last night. I had the communication interruption error with the beta so I decided to try the Windows 7 platform instead of XP. I turned off windows defender, anti-virus and firewall first. Finally, a success! Happy New Year! Smiley

I tried rooting my phone using Unrevoked 3.3 ans it always reboots to the home screen instead of the registry after I change the Hboot USB, I don't know what else to do I have tried this 10 times with the same result.  I have the new update so my software is 3.70+.  My bootloader says A-on and it is version 2.10 0001. Any help would be great thanks.

When in boot screen does it show s-off?
Do you have Superuser showing in your app drawer now?
Those together would be indication of root.

Basically you need to be in the hboot usb to install the hboot drivers, but only to do that. Once the drivers are installed, then you can boot normally into your phone and run the root. I also had 3.70 until Saturday night and also rooted with 3.3.

Just follow the instructions here: http://unrevoked.com/rootwiki/doku.php/public/windows_hboot_driver_install to make sure your hboot drivers are properly installed, and then you don't need to worry about being in the hboot menu any more.

I can understand the unrooting part. Always a good idea to familiarize yourself for when the day may come. What I don't understand is why you took the update??? If you knew you where going to reroot that makes no sense to do. I don't know what version of Unrevoked you used or if that is even how you rooted, but I would suggest using the latest version of Unrevoked. Follow their instructions on their download page...and DONT do updates OTA!

I unrooted to see if the update was worth it and I wanted to se of I could do it.  I have the latest version of unrevevoled and I also have hboot driver installed on my computer. Bit I have had no luck rooting my phone again. It just goes from the bootloader then says its waiting for it to reboot then my phone boots back to the home screen.  I don't know what else to try, I don't want to take it back to Sprint for a refurbished phone.  I just want to root my phone again, I truly hate this update, it has killed my phones speed and it keeps making my phone freeze all the time.

this may be a dumb question. after rooting with unrevoked 3.3, will it let you uninstall or remove Nova, sprint bloatware and swype?

Yes it will. I just did it to mine. Although I did download an app called Root Explorer to make it a bit easier to just delete em. I'm now Facebook/Twitter/Bloatware free. Smiley

I just did this on my hardware 003 evo just fine.  got rid of all the bloatware and randomness i didn't want.  installed kings 9 kernel, setcpu, root explorer, and wireless tether.  all working great.  i love my evo much more now :-D

just so everyone knows...my wife has a white evo.  it has hardware 004.  unrevoked does NOT work on it.  pretty slick Sprint......i'm sure unrevoked will fix that pretty quick.

Yes Ryu, you can. I would suggest a custom rom. I have been using Myns rls4 and have loved it. It is sense base and has a lot of add on and customizations available. It has been the most stable rom I have used and everything just seems to work. I have gotten to where I only use LauncherPro Plus and it works great with Myns. Rls5 is currently in beta and should be out real soon.
Another great rom is Vaelpak. I keep going back to Myn tho...

Thanks for everyone help, I finally figured out what I was doing wrong.  I am now rooted and couldn't be happy thank to all the people that brought us Unevoked 3.3. Now I can get away from 3.70+ and get back to enjoying the speed that my phone use to have. Thanks again.
