CM7. That is all.

Got home later  in the evening and flashed this over.  Shouldn't have done it.  I was up way to late playing with it.  Seems pretty cool, but this is my first, so I will have to test others out Smiley

Looks like this worked for me.  I was using the one posted in Rooting and Unrooting for dummies and it did not work.  I have rooted in the past and unrooted later.  I ended up needed a newer file that was posted in that thread and was able to find it.  I just tried rooting with what was posted in that thread and was told my software was to new.  Windows would not let me install any driver and just wanted me to check the manufacturer for one.  I ran this and it worked first try.  Don't know if the dummies thread has this updated in it but if it does not maybe that could be put in there.

Nope, never tried bud.  Once I rooted Qik and all other bloat ware was gone like yesterday's news.  Now that I am running CM7 I'm using Tango, much better quality IMO.

Having issues now.  I installed CM7 and then tried to install the new sense for evo.  I tried to flash back to the nand file I had but was having issues with that.  The only one was for the CM7 rom.  So I ended up unrooting and now I'm having issues.

I'm not able to get sm bus drivers to install however I had that issue when I installed when this thread was posted.  I'm now getting "Waiting for device.  Plug phone in and enable USB debugging.  Make sure HTC sync is not installed."

I have done nothing from when I last used this and I'm now not able to run it.  Any ideas?

I'm totally and completely confused by what you've done. If you installed CM7, why did you try installing Sense anything? Obviously, you didn't take the time to read up on ROMs or even just CM7 or you'd know its a non-Sense ROM and, therefore, incompatible with Sense anything. And if you're unrooted, you can't install drivers or anything else like that.

It would help trying to figure out how to help you if you listed exactly, step by step, what you did, start to finish.

12 hours of work and was not thinking was the issue.  After I thought about what I was doing I tried to go back to the stock EVO but the backup was bad.  I don't know what happened to it.  Nothing was changed in the file from the last time it was used.

As for the drivers I'm not talking about installing them on the phone I'm talking about the ones for Windows.

Why would you need to reinstall drivers on Windows?

Why would you need to reinstall drivers on Windows?

Ditto this question. What do Windows drivers have to do with your phone, other than HTC Sync drivers?

I have never rooted my phone but I am going to purchase a wifi motorola xoom and I figured that since I have my phone with me all the time I would like to use the wifi hotspot feature of my phone and then I could always use the xoom wherever I am.

I've never rooted before and it seems like using unrevoked is the easist way to do it.

My question is....after I root the phone using unrevoked will the phone be wiped?  or will the phone and apps and settings all stay the same except for it is rooted at that point?  I see that it "reflashes" so that is why I am asking.

Thanks in advance for any info you can give me!

I would highly recommend reading through all of the stickied threads, all pages of the threads, before starting to root. Your question is answered repeatedly in them, which indicates that you haven't really read them. But in essence, no, it doesn't wipe anything.

In the one guid it says to install drivers if you are on windows and to make sure sync is not installed.  I will try with just unrevoked on another computer and not download the drivers for windows and see what happens.
