I have read that the CEO of Sprint confirmed that there will no extra charge
while using the 4G network and that there will be limitations regarding bandwidth I.E 500GB for 3G.

Now my question is? Since there will be a tethering feature enabled on the Evo for up to
8 devices?  Will Sprint charge extra for the use of this feature?

Sprint CEO Confirms 4G On Your Phone Will Not Cost Extra

Quote:
Yesterday we reported that Sprint will not charge extra for using 4G on your phone, based on the response from a Sprint customer service rep. Some people pointed out that customer service reps are oftentimes wrong, and while we certainly agree with that statement, the CSR was quite confident in her response. Additionally, a good portion of the news market nowadays is comprised of rumors. Thankfully, we didn’t have to wait too long for the "rumor" to be confirmed.
Today was the 2nd day of the CTIA Wireless 2010 conference, and Sprint CEO Dan Hesse was the keynote speaker. In his speech, which was so graciously live blogged by BGR and Engadget, he said the following:

9:33AM "3G’s kind of getting exhausted. I talk to my network guys, and it’s like Scottie in the engine room… ’she’s going as fast as she can!’"
9:34AM With 4G, "because we can produce a gigabyte cheaper, we can offer more to the customer."
9:35AM "It’s like standard def versus high def, but with that analogy, you paid more for the better service. With 4G, we’re giving you more for free."

Does this satisfy the most skeptical among you? It sure sounds confirmed to us.
Calm Down – Sprint Will Not Charge Extra For Using The Sprint 4G Network On HTC EVO 4G, Will Not Have 5GB Monthly Limits On 4G

Quote:
today’s announcement of the HTC EVO 4G, formerly HTC Supersonic, everyone seemed really excited – what’s not to like? The phone is absolutely amazing, more powerful than ever before. Many questions were finally answered but one remained: Will Sprint Charge Extra For Using 4G On The EVO?

I just got off the phone with a Sprint CSR, Kathy, who assured me that Sprint will NOT charge extra for using 4G on your new EVO 4G.
The phone will switch to the 4G mode automatically in areas where it is available and fall back on 3G otherwise.
This seals the deal for many of you afraid that the new device would bring unwanted new charges. You can breathe easy now.
No 5GB Monthly Limit On 4G

Furthermore, the Sprint 4G page admits that there are 5GB monthly limits on data transferred using its 3G networks. However, the 4G doesn’t seem to have this limitation. In fact, 4G is promised to be truly unlimited:
Satisfy your need for speed with our superfast 4G connection in select cities. Outside of the 4G area, we’ve still got you covered with our nationwide 3G network. Check out 4G coverage and speeds.
This plan includes

    * Unlimited 4G usage. Download mammoth files, watch streaming videos and video conferencing without the lag. More coverage locations coming soon!
    * Peak download speeds of over 10 Mbps and average download speeds of 3-6 Mbps
    * 3G coverage nationwide: 5GB/mo. in total or 300 MB/mo. while off-network roaming. Additional monthly usage over 5GB costs 5¢/MB. You may not use more than 300 MB/mo. while off-network roaming. You can check your usage online anytime. Log into www.sprint.com/mysprint and click on usage details.

I think it is possible they will change extra.  Currently there are no limits on data usage for cell phones from Sprint's Everything plan, but that may change with the tethering feature.  Of course, if the limit is 500GB, I wouldnt worry, but if they institute the 5GB limit they currently have on data cards, well, I go over that now with my current smartphone.

Looks like we may get the 4g data plan cost tomorrow (maybe).  Just saw this in a article

Sprint schedules mandatory, company-wide meeting for March 31st
9 Comments

Here’s what we know: Come March 31st, all Sprint retail employees will be huddled around their computers, tuning into a meeting we’ve heard called “top secret”, “mandatory”, and “company-wide”.

Here’s what we don’t know: What its for. Even the retail managers don’t seem to know whats up. The current theory is that they’ll be discussing the EVO 4G (hopefully with some new details thrown in, like pricing and release date), and/or whatever changes are necessary (i.e. plan pricing) for their first 4G phone. Sprint doesn’t generally pull everyone away from the sales floor for nothing (that’s what memos are for), so lets hope it’s something worthwhile.

I have read a lot of conflicting stuff.  Sprint has said that they won't charge more for 4g, but many are speculating that they might restructure how we pay for data.  That 5g cap seems to be the key.  When you are under that, the carrier makes money off you, and over it starts to lose money.  However, with 4g they can provide more data with less cost, so that may change.  Soon, I believe, we wont even be charged for minutes anymore, just pay for data.  Who knows, it is all here-say and speculation as of now, only time will tell.

String,

What if you already have a current unlimited plan with Sprint?

Will they make you change it? I hope not !

Usually you can get grandfathered into keeping your old plan...HOWEVER...there will be some feature in a new plan, or some new phone that requires that feature that will force you to get the new plan.  That is their  way of gently persuading you to switch IMHO.
