So first time I go to work today and we get checked at the metal detector (UPS) anyways I put my new evo on the table and they all (people behind me) said the phone is nice but sprint sucks....

but everyone has so much love for Verizon but most of the other workers have AT&T..

I don't get it.. I haven't had any issues so far yet and I haven't dropped any calls while driving so I don't see what the big deal is.

Funny, because I hear the same exact thing.  The only time I've ever had a problem with Sprint Service was like 9 years ago when I first got a phone.  I got a few dropped calls and some dead spots in my apartment.  Sure it was annoying, but the plan I was on was only $19.95/month (lol, remember those days)

About a year later, a tower was put up about 2000 feet from where I live, and I've never had a single issue with dropped calls.  I'm always set to CDMA or whatever it's called and I don't get any issues.

Anyway, most everyone I know is on Verizon and the keep telling me I should switch.  You know the usual rhetoric... free calls to other Verizon customers. blah, blah, blah.  My parents are on At&t and can't get a signal in the living room of their house.  I get it just fine anywhere in their house.

Any former At&t, Verizon, T-Mobile peeps want to let us know if they hated Sprint at one point?

I preempt all negative sprint talk with bringing up AT&T.  No one can say too much after that.

People view on cell phone companies are like people views on Video game systems. There are fanboys, or just the un-informed that talk crap about the other companies. They should be taken with grain of salt unless they can prove they know what they talking about/not a fanboy.

Here, its just the opposite. Pretty much everyone is stuck with Verizon since they give great corporate discounts, and everyone is constantly complaining about dropped calls and sh*tty service.

I think a lot of the Sprint hating goes back 10 years or so. They didn't used to be as good as they are now. Plus, they've had some stumbles here and there.

Also, I think their lack of new cutting edge phones has given them the reputation of being behind the curve. And it's a rep that's carried over to their actual service in addition to their phone selection.

Part of it may just be some people love AT&T cause they love the iPhone. Other's just follow the horde to Verizon. When a large number of people have something (iPhones/Verizon) it becomes the "cool" thing.

I'd say AT&T is like a high school cheerleader. Hot, but usually (not always) dead space between the ears. Verizon would be the school jock. Lots of force and pushing power, but rather dull when not showing off. Sprint's the school nerd. Not the most popular, but loves to learn!

I agree back in the old days when I had Sprint about 13 years ago it was crazy in dropping calls on the parkway between each tower you would drop the call about 4 times.

while I haven't tried again yet but I know it's much improved.

I'm happy I don't no longer need to pay monthly for my favs or any of that mobile to mobile calling Smiley

For kicks I like to talk super long to my non sprint friends and me as a not a phone talker they are telling me they gotta run... lol better watch those minutes!!!

I've had Sprint for ages (my guess is about 10 years). They're not perfect, but I've had no serious complaints. I'd prefer better coverage, but I'm rarely in a situation where that causes a problem.

I have fun when I walk by a cell phone kiosk in the mall where the sales-critters actively try to get me to switch providers. After just a couple of minutes of discussing what I have with Sprint, what their company could provide, and the associated costs, they usually give up and tell me that they can't beat the deal I already have.  Makes me feel good about my choice.

I hate those people. I always tell them something along the lines of "You've had this kiosk here for at least 5 years. I know you are here. If I want a new friggin phone, I'll come to you. Don't yell at me as I'm walking by, its RUDE." I do the same thing to the idiots that try to squirt their nasty lotion on me or any of the other kiosks that have been in our mall for ages.

As I said in another thread here...

We bailed on Verizon when they bought out Altell whom was our provider.  The signal reception went right down the toilet with Verizon, I mean...it was bad folks.  The Sprint signal works GRRREAT for us where ever we travel around our community.

Verizon...the Bose of the cell phone industry.   Better service through marketing.  Hmmmmmmmm

Plus, if you're having signal trouble at home, Sprint can and does send out free Airave's. To my knowledge, AT&T and Verizon don't do this.

Funny you all mention those "mall" people.  I was walking to Radio Shack to check on leather cases (I was bored) and then went to the Sprint kiosk (all they had was the Body glove case).  So,  I walked by the T-Mobile guy and he starts harrassing me.  I told him I was good/not interested.  Then he says "Who is your provider" I answer "I've got the EVO." He has nothing to say and just smiles as I walk away.

I started many years ago with Cellular One. Eventually I added a line for my sister in PA with a 570 area code number, while I had a 510. This was cool. No one in her area had to dial an out of state code to reach her. Along comes ATT. They buy up Cell One and proceed move accounts over to their network. Their policy was that they did not allow that area code arrangement on their nationwide plans. Deal breaker. I moved  to Sprint because they allowed it. They bent over backwards for me and cut me a great deal. I'm very happy with their service and in turn I pay my bill as soon as it is out. ATT could literally place three iPhones in front of me free of charge, and I would not even consider it. Sprint coverage is among the best in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Do I think Sprint is the best? For me it is. I'm willing to accept the fact that for other people,it does not work for them. Maybe ATT or Verizon is the viable alternative where they are. I'm just not that in to brand loyalty.

I love Sprint and I tell everyone I know.  I have 4G nobody else does right there alone makes Sprint better.Sure 4g isn't everywhere yet but if its in your city its a  no brainier unlimited data. And Sprint has stated if they need to switch to LTE it would be no problem. I use 20 to 30 GB of data a month no extra charge like AT&T and Verizon my bill would be through the roof. I have the family data plan 129.99 a month plus 10 for the Evo wife has Palm Pre with insurance and taxes i pay just under 160.00 a month.
