i updated to gingerbread yesterday like i'm sure almost everyone did.  i was using ringlert to get ringtones and notification sounds.  after the update none worked correctly.  i deleted all from my sd card and uninstalled the app.  then reinstalled it.  everything seemed to work fine till i got a text and noticed that my notification sound was the same as my ringtone.  i can change the ringtone but no matter what i change the notification to it's still the same ringtone as what i originally set.  i've restarted the phone, uninstalled the app again and erased the tones off the card.  no luck.  anyone have any ideas.  i'm wanting to avoid resetting the phone.  if there is an easy way to back up all my apps resetting wouldn't be a big deal to me but i don't know of a way.

Edit: if anyone has this same problem go into your message app settings.  for some reason the sound settings was stuck.

We don't have a sim card. To learn how to back things up, and a lot more, read our FAQ section.

BTW, please use the edit or modify function instead of posting back to back messages. Thanks.
