Just wanna know, because it seems that Froyo changed the way that android handles the music interface, causing my music player and Pandora to pause when a call is placed or GPS instructions are given and not it no longer restarts on its own.

I've followed the issue on the android forums and it seems that it may be addressed in 3.0.

Any thoughts?

Since they just rolled out Froyo (and not even all phones have it yet), its gonna be awhile.

HTC would have to make it work with SenseUI and they just got that done with froyo.

I was reading that 3.0 was going to include many of the features that SenseUI provides, eliminating the need for "3rd party" skins.  The statement was that they wanted to standardize the feel for all users.  Smells like IOS to me.

Although I must admit, I don't use most of the Sense features, and I probably wouldn't miss it.

from what ive read gingerbread will cut out sense and samsungs version of sense i forget what its called but there wont be any need for it idk how htc is gonna feel about this since they just announced the sense update and ur rite its not up to sprint but if they put out gingerbread in october that means the different phone companies are imediatly going to start trying to put it on there phones and with sprint trying to make the evo first in everything its likely that there gonna try to push to be the first with gingerbread on it to like they were with froyo

Its not just up to the phone companies, its up to the deals they each have with Google.

WHEN it comes out, I dunno if well even get it on the Evo. Remember the reasons why the Hero and the Moment didn't get the Froyo update? Phone companies want you to move forward, to buy more, to buy newer. By the time Gingerbread comes out, Sprint very well may totally forget about the Evo. And why let your customers get something for free when you can force them to buy a new phone? Isn't that Sprint's mentality here?

Now I'm not trying to make us sound like nothing more than a bunch of wallets XD But it's something to consider on top of the HTC Sense issues. Sprint has the power to say no, because they feel like it.

To be honest, by the time Gingerbread comes out, I will be ready for a new phone anyway.  I take full advantage of my Sprint Premier status and get a new phone once a year...unless of course there is nothing that blows me away, but I am sure there will be.

I think October is way optimistic and would be surprised if Gingerbread were available for general release much before the end of the year.  I'm not saying we won't see it on Google's phone sooner but I don't see it coming to others much before mid December.

Now I do expect the Evo will get Gingerbread but, once again, not before mid December.

I don't think we'll see it on the Evo.  If we do, i'm guessing it will be 1st half of 2011.

If Gingerbread actually incorporates a few of the better features from Sense, it may be my first real candidate for a ROM swap.  I'm not a huge fan of most of the built-in software that Sprint and HTC added anyway.

i dont think we'll see the evo with 3.0... by then there will be a better phone (evo2 maybe?)

And i wont hold my breath about gingerbread not allowing sense or any other 3rd party run on top of it... that's what microsoft said, they were not going to allow the HTC windows 7 phones have sense... but they did incorporate sense into it after all.
