I ended up wiping my evo the other day and on a unrooted phone I'm trying to get the latest OTA update.  Unfortunately about 30 secs into the install, the meter at the bottom disappears  and it just shows me the little green dude standing next to a triangle with an explanation point in it.  I let it sit for about 10 mins the first time but that didnt help.

I've tried d/l it twice with the same results.  Any suggestions?

I'd suggest taking in to Sprint and having them do it so they can troubleshoot it.

They will be rolling out the update in waves.  Just keep checking at different times through the day.

When you say you reset it, do you mean you did a factory reset or did you unroot it? Two very different things.

After the update, I got a voicemail notification icon in the notifications bar and I CANNOT get rid of it. It is driving me crazy. It says to call my voice mail, but it says there isn't one, I tried the actual VM app and that didn't do anything. Isn't there a way to clear that notification??

EDIT: I figured this rogue voice mail notification thing out. Settings > Call > Clear voicemail notification

If I take it in to Sprint won't they notice it was rooted still? Cuz it didn't update...

That's why I asked if you unrooted or did a reset. Doing a reset does nothing. If you are still rooted, as has clearly been stated multiple times YOU SHOULD NOT BE TRYING TO DO AN OTA UPDATE. I would highly recommend reading our rooting section stickied threads, learning about rooting, and please keep rooting-related issues/questions in the rooting thread. Thanks.

I unrooted by flashing back to the original ruu.  I have no super user access.  Just trying to find out why it won't update normally.

Edit(  This is how my settings are in about my phone. I don't know it this is normal or not... can anyone tell me if something is wrong or if it sprint would be able to tell if my phone is rooted.
