I have a question... Is the telenav app free to use as the replacement to the sprint navigation? Seeing as sprint nav is no longer on my phone since the update... Thanks

Yes, Sprint replaced the Sprint Nav with Telenav months ago.

That's strange. I still have Navigation on my screen and just tried to use it. It gave me an option of either use Navigation or Telenav. I chose Navigation and it worked the same as before.

That may be Google Navigation.

It could be because when I first used it after the upgrade, it said be cautious as Google Map is still in beta. So what's the different between Google Navigation and the old Sprint Navigation? It has the same icon and seems working the same way.

Thank you.

I am confused. Do you have to install Google Navigation in order to use it? If so, then I don't have Google Navigation because I have never installed it. As I mentioned before, I still have the old Navigation logo (the blue one with NAVIGATION underneath) on my screen and I am able to use it. And also I have mentioned when I open it after upgrade, I was given the option to use Navigation or Telenav and I chose Navigation.

So am I still using Sprint Navigation?  Thank you.

Google Navigation comes as one of the stock phone apps. You are using Google Navigation. Sprint Navigation is now Telenav, as indicated in the previous posts in this thread.

I am not convinced it is free.  Reading the terms of service I found these entries to state the opposite.

THE TELENAV SERVICE
Use of the TeleNav Service requires payment of a monthly fee, which includes download to your wireless device of the TeleNav GPS Navigator software and any upgrades, modifications, or additions thereto (collectively, the “TeleNav Software”), but does not include any hardware that may be required for certain wireless devices (such as a standalone GPS receiver).

PAYMENT
Before your TeleNav Service will be activated, you must (i) provide TeleNav with a valid major credit card (American Express, VISA or MasterCard), or (ii) enter into a direct billing or prepaid agreement with TeleNav, or (iii) subscribe to the TeleNav Service through your wireless telephone carrier, and agree to pay the relevant charges to such carrier.

You agree to pay all fees charged to your account for the TeleNav Service (including applicable state and local taxes), in accordance with TeleNav’s billing terms in effect at the time the charge becomes payable. You will be charged such fees each month, even if you do not use the TeleNav Service. TeleNav reserves the right to change the fees for the TeleNav Service at any time, upon prior notice to you.

If payment cannot be charged to your credit card or your credit card charge is returned to TeleNav for any reason, or you otherwise fail to pay the charges for the TeleNav Service when due, TeleNav reserves the right to pursue any and all legal remedies to collect the amounts owed by you, and to suspend or terminate your access to the TeleNav Service.

If that's the case, how come I was able to use TeleNav as well? I have tried it and found that I prefer "Google Navigation" more. Maybe the one in EVO is not the full version, which requires monthly payment.

The upgrade to Gingerbread replaced the Sprint Nav with TeleNav. While Sprint was free with my plan, Telenav is not free, it says get Premium for $4.95 a month? Sorry Sprint but with your everything plan this is a bit of a rip off. I'll stick with Google, cause Sprint gets no more moola past what they are getting already.

Telenav IS free on Sprint.  You choose whether you want premium or not.  You don't have to have it.
