It has been happening to me as of late. not enough to bother me, but enough to take notice. I'm on my 3rd EVO phone. I had to replace previous EVO's because of internal issues, luckily free of charge but each time I had to wait at least over week because the EVO was on back order. I just hope this isn't a sign of anything bad to come with the phone...

Ever since one of those updates in the past month or so, my EVO reboots almost every time I hit the Home key or the Back button..........and REALLY tired of it now! I also hear that since HTC considers this to be an "old device", ICS will not be getting pushed to us. If that's true, I'm switching to iPhone on my next upgrade..........tired of the Android games.

My Evo also reloads almost every time I hit the home button also.  I've gone through system updates and also updated all apps.  It started maybe a month ago.  Frustrating because I have to restart music player or any other app I am running.  Phone is not rooted.

Thanks for the reply, Scassil.........now I know it's not just my phone and is a software problem, which I'm sure they have no intention of fixing. Also, yesterday my phone initiated a "PRL Update"..........I finally had to cancel it after it continued to run for 40 minutes! I'm convinced HTC just stops supporting phones after awhile to get you to buy another one. Apple, here I come!

If it were a software issue, it would be happening to a lot more people. Not just a handful. Have you tried pulling the battery for 5 minutes or so, and/or doing a factory reset? The most likely cause is an conflict with one or more apps imo.

Eek, if I recall correctly, every time you call HTC about something, they tell you its a software problem and they're releasing a maintenance fix in a couple of months. Never seems to happen. People will tell you anything in order to get you off the phone and not have to deal with you.

After the last update I immediately did a factory reset because HTC Sense was restarting a lot.  Then reinstalled fresh only the apps that I use all of the time, not from backup but a fresh install.  My HTC sense has only rebooted itself once, just recently after having received an app update while on facebook.  I was on for awhile and looking at a lot of photos at full screen size.  when I signed out of the browser, Dolphin HD, HTC refreshed itself.  Restarted phone, no problems since, has been several days.  I agree with Kassy, I believe that it results because of conflicts in the operating system  with an app, so my problem probably was with one I didn't reinstall, or if it is one that I reinstalled and it was probably  updated and no longer conflicts, or lastly it came in conflict after the update and when it was reinstalled fresh, it no longer conflicted as it was reinstalled after the operating system maintenance release.  I often turn my phone off and remove the  battery, which I believe also helps prevent the anomaly.

Well, I couldn't see how it would be worth doing, but I did it anyway.  I shut down phone, pulled battery for five minutes, reinstalled battery, and that seems to have resolved the restarting issue.  Phone has not restarted when I press home or back in the last 24 hours.  Thanks for the tip.

Removing the battery completely clears the cache, including things that aren't completely cleared when doing a reboot. Just like a regular computer. If something is glitching, a full cache clear will often fix it.

Khassy
That's what they said but I'm starting to agree with you. They don't care....mine still does it and the keyboard keeps going away when in use texting...grrr. I factory reset I don't know how many times it helps it for a few days then it will act up again. I cleared all the cookies, vs cache and browser history. I'm starting go think it my SD Card what do u think. HTC wants me to send it to go them.

Thanks
Eric from Ohio

Phone started restarting again today, so i pulled battery for 5 minutes, replaced, and the restarting stopped.  It has been one week since the last time.  If I have to do it once a week it is not a big deal.
