I think I read of someone else having that problem too. Sounds pretty damn serious... Possibility for a huge lawsuit, HTC/Android may want to do something about it soon lol.

They are aware of this issue and have done nothing to notify evo users. That is blatant negligence.

Well I'm not inclined to test the problem but would like to know if it is real.  If the Evo has a problem calling 911 it may or may not be a problem with the phone as the carrier has some skin in it as well.

What is the effect of calling 911?  That is, when you enter 911 and hit "call" what happens?

Sprint confirmed that its an HTC issue. The fact that they know about it haven't done anything is unbelievable!

First I've heard of this. Is there anything in writing confirming this is an issue, or just a Sprint rep's vocal confirmation?

Not doubting that you've had the problem. Just curious as to the info out about it. Obviously it's not really something we can troubleshoot without getting into loads of trouble. Then again, I might make it to an MSNBC or CNN headline if I were to try!

"North Carolina: Woman arrested after calling 911 repeatedly to troubleshoot a mobile phone."

Well for more than six years i worked as a central station operator for a security company servicing the 518 locally, NY, VT,and MA. No problem calling 911, I spoke with local county public safety dispatch and stated:

this is a non emergency call. I have a new line i'm testing. who am i speaking with.

"This is Warren county 911 emergency dispatch."

This is the 911 dispatch for 911 emergency.

"Yes."

This is not an emergency, i am testing a new phone line just established. thank you.

"Ok Have a good night."

I'm not sure I would want to test that. Although, it would be nice to know that it worked.

I'm already speaking with attorneys......

Just to be clear, if you are already talking to an attorney, have you or someone you know been injured and help was delayed because of the phone or are you contacting an attorney because something might happen?

You see, one of the things that the folks on this board maybe suspicious of is someone looking for a payday by drumming up others for a class action thing.  If you've been harmed that's one thing but trolling for lawsuit dollars is another...
