Check it out... exactly like the Evo 3D but replace the 2 5MP cameras with a single 8MP, so you lose the 3D. Or just like the Sensation but with WiMax if you wanna look at it that way. Unknown if it will be coming to Sprint or not...

Interesting...might actually be more desirable to some because of the slightly better camera for 2D stuff.  I wonder if the screen is still capable of displaying 3d images?

Doesn't look like it. No mention of it in the specs or overview. Just says a qHD screen with 540x960 resolution.

If it did come to Sprint soon I wonder how they would price it against the 3D, if it was the same I'm sure most people would still go for the 3D even if you are sacrificing a little 2D cam quality.

I probably would have bought this for my wife  instead of the 3D, if it were available in the US

That's the same video as the one on the engadget link I posted Tongue

With that second camera out the way they could've at least thrown a kickstand on there...

I feel your pain. We may be upgrading to phones with quad-core processors when the time finally comes!

I was kind of wondering why this phone even existed. I mean you may as well get an Evo 3D and not use the 3D part. Though I could see that some people would prefer the 8mp camera.

Then it hit me....

This is an Evo 3D for people who only have one eye! So they don't feel awkward buying a 3D device when they'll never get to experience the 3D aspect of it. It will save them many awkward conversations with people who are like:

"Wait.... you bought an Evo 3D? How do you see in 3D if you only have one eye?"
::sigh:: "I just don't use the 3D option."
"Then.... why did you buy a 3D phone?"

NOW I get why this phone exists....  Tongue

I have two functioning eyes but I'd probably get this over the 3D if it was available.  I don't want the 3D function nor would I ever use it, its the rest of the phone that I'm interested in (processors, etc.). 3D makes many people, such as myself, nauseous because we get motion sickness. But seeing as how you don't HAVE to use the 3D function and it is only in the camera/video part anyway, I'll likely be getting one.

Thanks for the dripping derision though. Tongue

I agree with that. I'm planning on getting my wife a new phone next month and finally rid her of her crappy Samsung Intercept. I had been planning on getting her an Evo but for the same price we expected to pay she can get the newer Evo 3D. Honestly if this device was available by then we'd probably get her this one instead since neither of us really care for the 3D gimmick.

I just thought it was funny. Being the exact same device minus a feature. All they really would have had to do to combine them both into one single device is give the Evo 3D dual 8MP cameras.... because these days.... who really cares about ancient 5MP cameras?

Oh wait....

Why does this exist? Take a 2d picture with the EVO 3d and you'll know... After playing with my store demo EVO 3d, I'm quite happy with my OG EVO. I have no desire to own the 3d for any reason other than its processor and the qhd screen, but you can take the stereoscopic crap and toss it in the garbage...
