Are you using the stock keyboard, or something like Swype or Swiftwriter? If you aren't using one of the latter, I'd highly recommend giving them a try. I hated not having a physical keyboard until I got Swype, then fell in love with my on-screen keyboard. I use Swiftwriter now, it works better for me than Swype. Both REALLY help a lot, though. You can find them in the app forum.

Having a little trouble finding the apps on the market, App Brain, and on the forum. Would you know where I can possibly find a barcode? thanks.

No chance in @#*& i would get the Epic over the Evo.  I really dislike slide out keyboards.  Dont care for Samsung, and just really like my evo and all the online support

The info is in our app forums.

http://www.evo4gforum.net/htc-evo-4g-apps/swype-vs-shapewritter/

Both threads have the apk files you will need for installation. First one is Swype (most popular) and second is for Shapewriter (my preference).

I wouldn't switch even if I was within my 30 days. I love my Evo and could't see the Epic being any better. I don't care for the slide out keyboard.

I made up my mind when I switch to another phone it has to have the same screen size or bigger not going back to a smaller phone. I love my evo period

I am beyond happy with my Evo, not a fan of slide-out QWERTY keyboards.  It loses sturdiness and looks a tad tacky. That's just my opinion though.  I do like the fact that it has a 1ghz hummingbird processor though.

If I agreed with you we'd both be wrong.

Slide out Keyboards are prone to breakage... I had a G1 and i was a MAD MAD emailer/ texter and over the course of a year...

the screen would have a really bad lag everytime it went from portrait to landscape when the keyboard would open.... then the keyboard hindge cracked and i would have to be very careful no to close it too hard and break it completely off... for as much as we use the keyboard, having it open and close, open and close does extensive wear and tear on the hinges...

and lets face it... they are not made out of some space age alloy to withstand all the use that we put into it on a daily basis... IMO

Today I was at the gym, and got on Sprint TV for the first time, and was going to try to impress my gym buddies w/ the live UH-USC game ... even w/ 4G here in Honolulu, the picture quality wasn't all that great - constant pixillation, illegible/blurred words on the screen.

There's a Sprint store in the same strip mall which I hit after lifting ... and saw the Epic's Sprint TV on 4G ... I NEARLY CRAPPED IN MY PANTS.  WAY clearer, i was ready to jump ship right then.

I'm a week on the Evo, and even called Radio Shack on the 30-day Sprint guarantee switch thing.  They said they have (2) Epic's in stock, she's reserving one for me for 24 hours.

I'm still kind of on the fence.  All things 'equal' - this is enough to make me possily switch.  I played on the Epic to day too, very similar UI and intuitive enough.  Yeah it's amsung - but they really did somethinggreat w/ this phone.

Still undecided ...

You have to remember...they juice up the 4G connection in the Sprint stores just for this reason.

Yeah, of course they do.

But i was lookin at an Evo *and*an Epic side by side, both with 4G on, both brightness maxed out, resolution, etc.  The Epic's screen on ESPN live telecast was like looking at HD, while the Evo looked like over-the-air, at best.

I would have preferred sharing the Epic w/ my friends than having them look at blurry football on the Evo.  Even WITH 4G.

Seems like most of us here don't like the slide out keyboards.  I'll wait until the Evo2 or whatever it will be called.

I LOVE the keyboard. Call me old school if you must. Too many times have I tried to swype in a word and get another. Or when I switched to the stock keyboard, I hit "b" instead of the spacebar.

I am looking into the Samsung by Christmas, or if another crazy gizmo is announced that has a keyboard

my coworker wanted the evo but it was sold out then I told him about the epic.. he nearly peed himself because he likes physical keyboards and he does way more in depth emails than I.  So he got one on the first day.  He loves it and is geeking out about it but his battery life isn't the best.. supposedly the screen is supposed to make the batter last longer but he ran through 2 batteries yesterday before the work day was over and my stock battery lasted a goo 22 hours yesterday on my Evo..

The screen is brighter than the Evo's and the phone is lighter.. but I feel the Evo's build quality is better.. more heavy duty.  But the Epic seems neat and it looks pretty
