Default [RESOLVED]: Is It Possible to have different notification for email and text messages

Just as the title asks. I have been looking around seen a few answers to somewhat similar questions but figured Id ask in my direct way. I don't need an mp3 or anything and dont need a different sound for every email but my email is aol on my home screen and I have my text there too but the sound notifier seems to be the same for both and Id like to be able to have one notifier sound for email and one for text so i know what just came through. I have heard i can dump the sound into the sd media notification folder on an sd card or I heard maybe try k-9 mail apps but just wanted to see if it can be done simply on the phone as kinda doesnt make sense to not let you have a different tone for email then texts as thats pretty basic stuff. I love my rooted evo just need to get this figured out...

I have different sounds for txt and mail.

Open your mail.
Tap the Menu button
Tap more
Tap Settings
Scroll down to Notification setting and set the tone you want.

Or alternately if your email doesn't let you change it in there (some don't), open your messaging app, hit menu and go into the settings. You should be able to set a specific ringtone there, even in the default messaging app.

Thanks for the replies guys.
LazyDog I dont have an option to choose a notification sound when i go to those menus. when I get to notification setting I have 3 choices all on or off choices...vibrate...notification sound on/off...email notifications on/off

Zeria...At first i thought your way wouldnt work as i tried it by opening my message app on the home screen which didnt give me those options. i then went to my apps icon page tapped messages and then found it gave me a ton of other settings not viewable if you open messages app from home screen and I see what i wanted all my notification sounds and songs to use as notifiers so now I have 2 different tones. thanks...

Not sure if it helps others but Im on froyo 2.2 rooted
